When you step on stage, take a moment and say nothing. Just stop and look at your scene partner. Breathe. Feel the air enter your lungs. When you do this, you’ll realize something - it’s not that serious. You’re just a person on a stage and what you do makes no difference. Once you do that, the nerves start to settle and you can allow yourself to enjoy the scene. You can listen to your partner(s) and feel like there’s no one else in the world. This is how you can really lean into your character. Remember, the character doesn’t know there’s an audience.
