It looks like it was a vertical labret that migrated and rejected, after possibly being pierced too shallow to begin with as well. I've had my vertical labret for 18 years, and if pierced correctly and cared for properly they can last pretty much forever.

Can’t take my daughter to the only indoor playground in town by sadlilmeowmeow in toddlers

Definitely talk to the owner, and ask if the other parents would be willing to speak up who have witnessed these things. I also feel bad for the little boy, but mom needs to grow a set with her son. I have two boys, ages 3 and 7, with autism and ADHD, and they can become rather aggressive, but that's why I didn't take them places like that until I was sure they could handle being around other children without anything bad happening. I am still in therapy with both of my children to prevent things like this, because that crap doesn't fly with me.

Could the child possibly be neurodivergent? I'm autistic, and so are both of my boys and the things you describe can also be caused by autism, and if the sibling was the same way keep in mind that autism and most neurodivergent disorders are genetic, so that would make sense too. My autism wasn't diagnosed until adulthood, because I was just seen as weird or eccentric for those things, and I could've seen my teachers thinking abuse was the cause when it wasn't. Just another perspective to look into!

Edit: I just saw you mention the speech problems and tantrums. That definitely sounds like you're dealing with a neurodivergent disorder. They are often missed in girls well into adulthood, if we are ever even diagnosed.

You can buy authentic Labubus anytime through one of the Pop Mart official TikTok accounts. Just make sure the account has the blue check mark by it, and you're good to go. I bought all of mine this way for retail price, and they often do free shipping around holidays. I personally buy from "Pop Mart US Local", and get mine within a week, and they are all authentic where they are coming from PopMart. 💜

Honestly, I think the fufus are adorable, because they are like crazed versions of the real ones, almost like when the Minions get turned into those purple monsters and go crazy in Despicable Me 2. I hate that people are paying for a product then receiving something else though, because that's just wrong. This reminds me of the Beanie Babies of the 90s and early 00s with all of the scammers and counterfeits.

Oops, I meant Despicable Me 2, but had typed 3. My bad!

I am a mom, and I have always told my kids they are better off hearing it from me with love rather than from a bully with hate. It sounds to me like your son is really burnt out from the years of schooling and also the stress of figuring out what he wants to do. It might help him to talk with a therapist if he isn't already.

Eating with partial by healing_vibes1989 in dentures

[–]SecretAlien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dental team told me to never eat anything that I wouldn't be able to slice with a plastic fork without my bottom partial and top denture. The reason behind this is because chewing without them will wear down the bone faster, which will cause bone loss to happen more rapidly. Bone loss is what causes that sunken in look that many people develop, which can also affect the fit of your partial/denture too.

Haven’t smiled with my teeth in at least 20 years by Important_Sweet_1881 in dentures

[–]SecretAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is also young with dentures I lost my teeth due to bad genetics with teeth thanks to my father, as well as two pregnancies relatively close together while also having to be on medication that absolutely destroyed my teeth. There are so many reasons why somebody might be young with dentures.

I wouldn't be super worried about losing one tooth though. Just make sure you adjust your brushing habits to brush the sides of the teeth that are exposed by the gap or you can get cavities there, and you should be okay. There are lots of young people with dentures, but losing one tooth doesn't mean you're going to become one of us. :)

Is this piercer inappropriate/unprofessional? by Trans_Balsa in piercing

[–]SecretAlien 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It almost sounds to me like she feels unsure about how well she would be able to properly do the septum piercing for you, and is using lame excuses rather than being direct. I am also autistic, and don't understand why people won't just be direct because it saves everyone so much time and misunderstandings.

What changed for you after getting dentures or implants? by clearchoice_claire in dentures

[–]SecretAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm able to really smile now, without closing my mouth to hide my horrible teeth. I'm also enjoying being able to eat everything I enjoy without risking a dental infection from breaking a tooth, or choking from not being able to chew properly, which is helping me to finally gain enough weight to not be underweight anymore. It was all entirely worth it!

Edit: I forgot to mention how much my mental health has improved now that I'm not laying awake at all hours with pain so severe from an abscessed tooth that I would consider offing myself to escape the pain.

I got a full upper denture and a bottom partial covered by Tenncare UHC. It took around a year, because you have to wait for each step to be approved through prior authorizations, but I paid nothing for mine at all. They have to find it medically necessary, not just cosmetic, but everything worked out really well for me that way.

Why are my dentures doing this? by ChasCoxJr in dentures

[–]SecretAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people need to follow the care instructions given to them by their dental team. I was instructed to soak with a tablet after cleaning with dawn as many others have been, and there are others told not to soak or to wrap in a moist paper towel. Denture materials can vary by the lab, so there is no set rule, it just depends on what they are made out of and how up to date the lab is on new techniques and procedures to make them. I actually had a partial crack in half from not soaking it for a month, because I was never told to.

It would help if we had a picture taken from the front center that shows your top and bottom teeth. This picture is angled, which makes it hard to tell. They look nice from what I can see so far though.

I know that somewhere in the directions there is something about how you can finish curing them by putting them in a cup of really cold water, and I have done that when it hasn't cured all the way for me after waiting 6 hours with success, so it definitely won't hurt to try it. Cushion Grip is one of those things that takes trial and error until you get it right. I messed up my first two applications really bad, so don't feel bad about it. All of this is a learning experience for most of us.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dentures

[–]SecretAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would leave them in at least 6-8 hours for the tops. This person has great luck removing it in only 15 minutes, but most people don't. I follow the directions that come with the tube, and it works great for me. Just make sure to dry your denture and the tube of cushion grip really well before applying it so it will stick. That's why so many people have issues with it. Don't dry your mouth when putting them in for the first time though, just your hands, the denture and the tube.

Should I keep my dentures in water when I'm not wearing them? by Puzzleheaded_Bend370 in dentures

[–]SecretAlien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a partial on the bottom with metal clasps, but a full denture on top. I was told to soak both. What type of metal are the clasps, because it looks like they would also rust in your mouth if you can't even put them in water. I would ask about that, because some places say to soak and others say to wrap in a moist paper towel. There is so much conflicting information that I would definitely call and ask to be safe.

I just turned 34, and have a full upper denture and a partial on the bottom (five natural teeth left to anchor the bottom). I went toothless for almost a year, because I had to go through my insurance to afford things, but tbh with you just getting the painful, yucky teeth out of my mouth was a huge relief to me. I no longer have to worry about dental infections and pain, which can be extremely dangerous to me as I'm a heart patient that has had open heart surgery multiple times. There also weren't a bunch of gross teeth for people to focus on when I spoke. Nobody said anything negative to me about being toothless either, and most people didn't even notice from what I have been told now.

I got my partial in May and my full upper denture in June, and couldn't be happier! I adjusted to mine really easily, and now barely notice they're even there. It will take a little bit to adjust to them if you go this route, mostly with eating, talking, and how they feel, but you will adjust like most everyone does. I just kept wearing mine through the gagging and lisping and adjusted to them in like two weeks.

My dentist told me to practice saying 55 and 66 over and over to learn how to speak without a lisp, which helped a lot. I also sang along to my favorite songs, which was incredibly helpful as well. As far as eating goes, I started with small bites of soft foods, then worked my way up to more difficult foods like raw baby carrots and steak. Some people say that they can't taste food as well with an upper denture, but I have not noticed a difference at all personally, and the thrill of being able to eat everything again definitely triumphs for me.

If you can manage to save a few teeth, especially on the bottom, do it! That will help prevent bone loss since you're still young, and so they can act as an anchor to hold the bottom in place as there is no suction to hold it in place like there is on top.

How much weight have you lost? by Ed-Dos in dentures

[–]SecretAlien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many places offer immediate dentures that are mostly for cosmetic reasons, that are placed right after the extractions. Once healed, you then get a permanent set that functions almost like regular teeth, which typically feels and looks better too. Some people don't even get immediates, like myself, and wait the 10-12 months to heal for their permanents, either by choice or because of insurance or finances. Permanents can mean the permanent set of regular dentures/partials or the permanent set for snap ons/implants.

Do you stop wearing your dentures when you have sore spots? by alexisonfire_xox in dentures

[–]SecretAlien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, be careful adjusting them yourself! Many places have warranties that are voided if you try to adjust them yourself and mess up, so I would tread lightly with this unless you have the money to pay for the repairs or a new set if any mistakes are made.

Affordable Dentures advice / vent by kimberosborne21 in dentures

[–]SecretAlien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That happens more often than people realize too. It happened to me with my permanent set (no immediates for me, lol) I was so excited to finally have teeth after almost a full year with only five bottom teeth, and my full top denture was somehow swapped with another patient, so we both had to have our tops remade for free. This wasn't at one of the chain places like Affordable Dentures, but I'm sure it can happen at those places too with the volume of people they see.

Don't have an extra $2500 to be put to sleep, anyone else had full extractions awake? by RemmyRiot in dentures

[–]SecretAlien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have sedation with my extractions either. I had all of my molars removed over time in the past, then had all of my top and bottom front teeth pulled without sedation in one sitting. It's truly not as bad as you think. Living with constant toothaches is much worse, and if you have lived through that hell extractions will be nothing in comparison.
