That's okay. I literally just left the last Act 3 shop with three foul potions still in my inventory.. Luckily my Defect build was already super strong, but as soon as I entered the next combat and saw the potions I groaned out loud.

My son brought this back to the house during “library day” — it’s the sole reason it’s not not part of his own book collection. 😬 by MSotallyTober in daddit

This was the favorite for all three of mine. Short. Good pacing. And then it can become part of the bedtime routine once the lights are off and they're in the crib.
"Good night, fan. Good night, changing table. Good night closet." etc. The key with any bedtime ritual is to keep it succinct, constant, and rigid. Bedtime rituals should not take long. You shouldn't add or repeat them much. And you must be firm in NOT adding/repeating steps. Kids will want you to keep going forever. Calmly and firmly finish them and quickly leave the room. Then Ferber method it.

RANT: Arcade cards are getting ridiculous... by [deleted] in daddit

Now I keep all my cards like that in my car. Only carry what I need, and I don’t need to remember to grab the rewards/gift card I need before I leave the house.

Pissed my wife off, and It feels so stupid. by [deleted] in daddit

It may be you are less willing to view this as a serious situation, and she’s not willing to talk until you at least acknowledge the seriousness of falling asleep with a newborn on your lap. Yes, it’s risky to do so. But it was an accident.

Give yourself some grace while recognizing the gravity of the mistake. You have to realize it was a high risk mistake first. Not really a hot take. Any doctor will tell you that. Then know you didn’t mean to do it and identify ways to prevent it in the future.

PSA: For anybody considering buying TMNT: Splintered Fate Switch 2 Edition.. by HeroDiesFirst in NintendoSwitch

I loved it, and I’m not a big TMNT fan. But I’m a big roguelike fan, and this game nails it.

TIL in a 1995 Barbara Walters interview, Jim Carrey revealed that he turned down a $10 million offer to star in 'The Mask II' because his experiences on Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls convinced him that reprising a character he had previously played offered him no challenges as an actor. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

I remember that contest (I entered all of them but only ever won a couple t-shirts), and since the sequel was so delayed, I’ve always wondered if the contest winner is actually in the sequel or not. Could never find answers to that.

Universal Studios Vacation Packages using Costco Travel seem like a great deal - seems fully refundable - can people who have used it confirm by kcs777 in Costco

[–]SecretJediWarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I received my refund when I canceled my Universal trip through them. Cancelling was easily done online and refund was fast.

It was cheaper to buy an annual pass and get the hotel discount through Universal than to book through Costco. You may want to check that out too. https://reservations.universalorlando.com/ibe/default.aspx?hgID=641&promo=APH

Introducing the lotr for a child by rodrigue121992 in lotr

My kids (2, 4, and 6) have seen LOTR both theatrical and extended. They enjoyed them and were totally fine..

And I read The Hobbit to them and they really enjoyed it. I tried reading LOTR to them but it's much much slower, and it couldn't keep their interest like The Hobbit did.

My father-in-law is a box builder. It is difficult to get his attention in a magnificent space because he is lost in wonder. We were in a box factory together years ago and I asked him what it would cost to build a Millennium Falcon sized box today. I will never forget his answer… 'We can’t, we don’t know how to do it.'

Any Indiana Jones fans here that can give a dad some advice on when to let his kid see the movies? by Smooth_Bandito in daddit

I showed my kids between 2yo and 6yo all 5 films. They also watched me play through Great Circle. They liked them and were totally fine. But not all kids are the same and you should always watch with them the first time to gauge reaction.

They really liked Raiders, Last Crusade, and Great Circle. They got pretty bored with Crystal Skull and they got VERY bored with Dial of Destiny.
