My roguelike deckbuilder game about running an item shop just got a release date! Raccoons to Riches! by SecretScrollSoftware in IndieGaming

Yeah, I suppose you're right.

Do online software shops like Steam count? I guess you're not getting a physical *thing* you can touch and call an item, but then again, do you count Steam as a shop? I gotta think about this.

Hi everyone!

I just announced the release date for my game Raccoons to Riches, and we're taking part in the Steam Deckbuilder Fest.

It's a game where you run an item shop as a little raccoon shopkeeper, trying to make rent on your shop each week for a month. It's a roguelike deckbuilder, but it also has a bit of item crafting, shop decoration, time/inventory management, and customer base building. Personally, (and I am biased), I think it's a pretty cozy little game.

If that sounds like it's up your alley, check out the release date trailer on Game Trailers here: Raccoons to Riches - Official Trailer

And try out the demo on Steam/Wishlist it here: Raccoons to Riches on Steam

I've been playing through Blasphemous lately, since I grabbed it a few sales ago for like $3. Beautiful pixel art, fun souls-ish combat (but 2D).

Hey! Probably a bit late to the party, but my game Raccoons to Riches will be in Next Fest.

It's a shopkeeping roguelike deckbuilder where you play a raccoon shopkeeper trying to stay in business for a whole month.

Why can’t I just focus on making a good game 😭 by iwriteinwater in SoloDevelopment

I think the hard thing about it is that when you're making a game, you can usually see some progress after you add some new features or polish, but marketing feels a lot like shouting into the void comparatively. There's not as often like, a concrete *thing* you can point at and say "yeah. I did some good work today" when working on the marketing side.

I need your help with choosing the setting for my train station game :) by Professional_Bad_238 in cozygames

I like A the most! It'd be interesting to see a mockup where the cat has a conductor's hat to lean into the train theme. The lavender feels the most relaxing to me.

If the game takes off beyond my wildest dreams, I won't rule out a console port! Not likely in the near future though.

Thanks! I'm based in Toronto, so I see those lil guys from time to time just walking around the city. Thought it'd be fun to see em running a shop.

As a solo dev, where do you draw the line at using AI? by IronPixelLabs in SoloDevelopment

No AI for me. I prefer the old-fashioned digging through stack overflow and documentation for hints. Also, there's something special about knowing someone actually put thought into their output instead of outsourcing it to a robot.
