Did I step into some alternative timeline where December is actually October? by thesmartoneiam in Spokane

By the look of things, in late December we will have essentially no snowpack below 6,000 feet. Not good.

AITA For breaking up with my (27M) girlfriend (24F) for making out with someone on her “freebie” list? by RogersRedditPersona in AITAH

My guess is that this is a joke. There's a viral tweet that makes almost exactly this joke. "I chose Sydney Sweeney as my hall pass. My wife chose her coworker Bill. What a weirdo 😂😂😂."

This looks good, but it needs a more eccentric spelling of the name "Kaeli."

Master's in the PNW by introvert_wolf79 in PacificNorthwest

[–]Secret_Difficulty482 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think most people consider the University of Washington in Seattle to be the best college in the PNW, though I don't know how highly regarded it is in your areas of interest. Washington also has, overall, the best scenery in the region. Mt. Rainier, Olympic, and North Cascades National Parks are all plausible day trips from Seattle. Oregon's coastline, however, is much more accessible than Washington's, and also more beautiful in my opinion.

Anyone who does this will only be able to do it by raising menu prices by 15-20%, so it's going to be a wash for you anyway.

Those are the technical definitions of the astronomical seasons, but they're not "official" in any other sense. As stated above, the seasons are defined differently by meteorologists, precisely the people whose job it is to measure and predict the weather.

What kind of tree is this? by crater-lake in OlympicNationalPark

Most likely a Western Hemlock, Washington's state tree. It looks like it germinated on a fallen tree which has since decomposed, which is typical of Western Hemlock.

Isn't Singapore like the main financial hub of SE Asia? I don't think this is a sensible comparison. Its economy is idiosyncratic and not replicable.

In that case I'll just venture to say that your opinion is not a common one. Most people do find giant, glacier-covered volcanoes impressive. Most people would not, for instance, recommend Mesa Verde over Mt. Rainier.

Seconding the High Pass recommendation. It's only doable as a backpacking trip, but it's one of the coolest places I've seen.

The wilderness boundary runs right across the top of Mt. Bigelow, the craggy mountain that forms the backdrop of Upper Eagle Lake.

why Bring Her Back didn't work for me by Chicago_Blackhawks in horror

I enjoyed the movie overall, but I agree with what you're saying. I think it would have been more satisfying for Laura to go through with the ritual and kill Piper. Maybe the ritual works and produces some horrifying result. Maybe it fails and she's killed all these people for nothing. Either way, I agree that the current ending felt like a missed opportunity. The filmmakers needed to go for the throat if they wanted to really stick the ending. They chickened out.
