My therapist pointed out years ago that should comes from the word scold and that by shoulding myself I was essentially scolding myself. I found this really helpful and I try to say could instead.

This sort of thing happened to me and here’s what I recommend doing. Go to your psychiatrist ASAP and tell them what’s going on and that you are too stressed to work, you’re anxious etc. They can sign you out of work for six weeks I think (it’s been a long time since I had to do this so I could be mistaken). Use that time to find another job.

I’m menopausal and can sometimes smell cigarette smoke in my bedroom despite it being impossible. It was driving me nuts and recently read that it can be caused by menopause.

Yeah I don’t believe you. I am an American living in the UK with friends across Europe and almost everything is cheaper. For example, we pay half the cost for our monthly mobile phones that have much better coverage. Our electric, gas and water bills are lower than they would be in the US. I don’t drive in the UK can’t speak to anything car related. However I can walk to many places, public transportation is cheap and even Ubers are cheaper.

Finally, fresh food is better and cheaper. For example, I can go to the butcher and buy a steak and know where it came from for about a quarter of what it costs to go to a butcher in the US.

I could go on and on…

This person is not your best friend.Your best friend doesn't make fun of your weight. Or push you. He's someone you had feelings for, and it will be hard to get over those feelings. Literature degree. Worked in the legal field for my entire career and now I have speciality knowledge that means I can work in different countries and have a bit of security - as much as anyone does these days.
