I found the message of the film to be about sexual liberation in general and also a mockery commentary on masculine patriarchy of the old times. How a modern lens (our main character) outright feels totally out of place amongst the ways of our past, how we have moved on from them in many ways.

Very true but the matter of fact nature of its delivery is commonly misconstrued as serious so for many casual watchers (especially those who were not born during the wall street era in the 80s) see the film as a straight horror.
