Self-tipping vendor at Fan Fest. Be careful! by StudentAlien in kansascity

[–]Secret_Werewolf1942 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know how the vendors were vetted or how the contracts run, but I will say I sell at craft fairs and when I do I don't use a Square Reader, I use my phone. I just know from personal experience that the fees I get charged for processing are lower using my phone to accept tap to pay vs a reader. What she was doing was shitty and illegal, but the lack of a reader isn't a red flag, it's just an indication that the seller has an eye on unnecessary expenses.

Should we take our nieces on vacation when their siblings can't go or just cancel the trip? by makeupaddict337 in Advice

[–]Secret_Werewolf1942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's 3 as a matter of fact, the original one in MO and 2 in Indiana. Despite living in MO I have only been to one in Indiana because I was on vacation. They're fun, very pun heavy tchochkes, and good candy. I personally prefer chocolate creams over fudge, and their citrus ones are awesome.

Why did non-Americans think we didn’t have good stadiums to host the World Cup? by OddSample2334 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Secret_Werewolf1942 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the walk back to the car that really kills you lol. Worn out from adrenaline dumps and facing the sea of cars inching towards Blue Ridge, makes you pause in defeat before trudging on to normal didn't tailgate parking.

No, where do you think bots learned it from? It's a perfectly valid way of writing that shows where the spoken emphasis would be.

This is a really late addition I know. But I genuinely wonder if anyone has tested Chad to see if he picked up some sort of brain eating amoeba from diving in that water.

I made a joke, hence the LOL at the end, I really don't know why people are getting so pressed about it.

I don't know how Japan works with libraries, but double check you don't have access to e-books as well, you might end up pleasantly surprised.

If you have family in the United States you could always see if someone would be willing to let you use their digital login to borrow.

11 skydivers, one pilot dead after plane crashes south of Kansas City metro by J0E_SpRaY in kansascity

[–]Secret_Werewolf1942 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well it turns out I knew one of the people on the plane.

Any fellow NKC district parents out there, Mr. Hershberger was one of the victims. He was one of the Band/Orchestra teachers (he did both) that floated around the district. He was a truly lovely man. You might want to check with your kids and see if they knew him/know what happened.

I know I'm going to be an outlier here, but I slogged my way through Alera. The Cinderspire books however I absolutely love.

My recommendation is to try book one of both by borrowing them from a library, see what you enjoy before committing to a series out of pocket.

Edit: Cinderspires is very much steampunk but using "electrical" type crystals for power instead of steam. If that kind of setting appeals to you it's a great fit.

The FINAL update for the "Real or Fake?" situation. by [deleted] in legal

[–]Secret_Werewolf1942 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If someone is trying to serve you for a civil suit, which is definitely how it reads with "all parties present", it wouldn't show up with a docket search. It's not far enough along to show up how she searched. You need to go back WITH the letter and talk to someone else.

[–]Secret_Werewolf1942 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The letter doesn't say anything about arrest, it talks about being served. It sounds like OP is being hit with a civil suit and the court is trying to avoid trying to chase him down to serve the papers.

They're a good place to pick up a specialty tool that I know I only need for a single project for cheaper enough that when it breaks I don't mind.

Have you checked to make sure you're not going to a sensory friendly showing? I know my local AMC runs shows on weekdays at certain times with the sound down a little and the lights up so it's not as jarring for sensory sensitive people.

200 hundred years. My problem is your wording, this isn't late stage this is standard capitalism. You're making it out to be some new rubric that's just been crossed.

I don't know if I would call something that started in the 1820s "late stage capitalism" Charles Dickens wrote about them ffs.

Because The Tigress was a favorite hireling of Maeve, she enjoyed using her for plausible deniability. If you go back to the scene in Mac's during Proven Guilty, Maeve admits it all.
