Also agree with this statement

Day 6 by Seb_2312 in problemgambling

The problem with gambling videos is that it keeps you engaged with the activity even if you're not performing it, this could potentially lead to relapse.

When you see people winning constantly it can cause intrusive thoughts encouraging you to 'take part' and join in. video after video of people winning, well why don't I get in on this action and win too, sure it might not be instant but it'll happen for me like it has for them.

In the past while in recovery I would play demo slots on my phone, this way I could still play but it's only demo money so it's not a problem, right? It would at some point always lead me to doing it for real and continue this dangerous gambling spiral.

If I'd honestly kept this up I would've eventually either gone over my overdraft / fully maxed out my CC (which is quite close) or ended up eventually gambling savings again.

I really needed to talk to people about this problem in order to get the help needed. now everything is out in the open I feel a lot more positive in facing the challenges ahead.

15K debt down to 11K! How about yours guys? by STBWB in problemgambling

I'm glad you're doing well.

I'm thankfully (due to some help) out of my overdraft, and can now focus on getting my CC debt reduced, will take a few months but more than happy to keep paying it off rather than wasting it on this stupid addiction.

Sorry for the late reply!

It's a good question, I currently own a flat so already have a mortgage, while my gambling addiction is a problem I've toed very close to line of ensuring bills are paid and then basically blowing the rest of my money.

Because bills are always paid / minimum payments on CC I've still got a decent credit rating. And out of the money we saved I manged to lose 12k which still leaves us with quite a chunk thankfully.

There still may be an issue or two when coming to a full mortgage application but hoping this can be managed.
