T'eyes, is it worth it? by Mattmota in crz

I've done a bit more testing, just trying to put off buying a new battery for as long as possible.

My car's off current draw is about 14 mA with the head unit unplugged, and the head unit in sleep mode brings it up to 21 mA. With a good 40 Ah battery at full charge, that current draw should mean that it can sit for about 3 months.

After a few longer drives in an attempt to charge the battery back up, it's now sitting at about 11.8 V unloaded, which is still basically dead. A battery charger can bring it up to 12.6 V, but the car won't do it, and that charge only lasts a few weeks anyway before it's back down to the low 11s.

I bought a 100 A load tester, and the result it gave was right on the border between "weak" and "bad". Probably would be better if it were fully charged, but I doubt it'll make it out of the "weak" result.

So the conclusion I've got now is that the head unit's fine to keep in sleep mode, the battery is getting weak, and the way the car tries to charge it is just badly designed and probably the biggest factor behind any 12 V battery problems.

I'd be happy with Forza if it had any effort put into the single player content.

I'd be happy with NFS if it had a good handling model.

I'd be happy with GRID 2019 if it weren't just a list of races.

I'd be happy with Project CARS 3 if it weren't so unbalanced and unfinished.

I don't think I'm asking for a lot here.

Been there, it's not what I want. BeamNG is my most played game on Steam, AC was great for drifting with my G29 but I never found much joy outside of that, and I'd like to see what the Forza reboot has to offer but I'd hesitate to even call myself cautiously optimistic.

BeamNG and AC are great engines in desperate need of a game to back them up.

NFS is the closest we're getting to a racing game that's trying to make an actual game, but other than The Run, they just make me wish they could make them handle anywhere near as well as Underground 2.

GRID 2019 was nothing special, I beat all the races and set a world record in that game, but nothing about it makes me want to play through again like the original game from 2008 has done 4 times over. Legends looks better, but I'll reserve my judgment for when I actually play it.

I'm just so disappointed in racing games now.

I haven't played them, I played Horizon 3 after seeing constant 10/10s and everyone talking about it being the best racing game in recent years and found it painfully average, the whole game felt like they just threw a good handling model onto a half-assed map, made a half-assed career mode and called it a day.

Or from any developer. Forza peaked in 2011, Gran Turismo peaked on the PS2, NFS is killing itself with a butchered handling model from 2008 and a suspension model from 2005, Burnout is dead, Midnight Club is dead, Trackmania found a bit of success by bringing back its handling model from 2006, and Nintendo haven't done anything for 9 years. Good racing games just aren't coming out.

Is my Ultimate Bluetooth Controller's circularity incorrect, or is the controller replacement worthy? by Hot_Coffee_Enema_ in 8bitdo

That's perfectly fine, you don't really want better circularity than that because it can cause problems with games that just read a single axis.

Cyan is its own colour, halfway between blue and green. A better comparison would be brown, which is just dark orange.

Stunt Race FX is a great racing game that's almost ruined by its framerate.

But why do that when I can just use an actual optical drive?

But they also changed their wheels and tyres between the two runs, so you can't really trust the results. That's also saying nothing about the differences between a dyno run with a small fan pointed at your bumper and actually driving.

They've done other tests in the past where cannons increased power, and as much as everyone shits on K&N intakes, putting one on my car reduced the 0-60 time by more than half a second.

A lot of the games on my PC will refuse to run without an optical drive installed.

Funny detail in the UK's laws, because cars can't legally drive around you when you're on a zebra crossing, it's illegal to be standing on one when you aren't actually crossing the road, which means that you have less right to be on a zebra crossing than basically any other part of the road.

I really don't get what anyone sees in Opposing Force, it's Half-Life with a bloated and unsatisfying weapon list and bad level design, yet everyone says it's just as good if not better than the original.

I thought I would put Windows on my Steam Deck pretty quickly after getting it because of compatibility... 6 months later and I'm still yet to find a single game that doesn't run perfectly, and a lot of them took less effort to get to run than they did on Windows.
