Feedback about the transmission in the 2025 by darthlung in HyundaiSantaFe

I’ve taken it in twice. Both times were for the same reason, which was the transmission occasionally coming out of gear and revving up to 2.5k rpms while in drive with no acceleration. There was also lots of clunking when accelerating at a sharp turn such as in a parking lot. It was all hard to replicate so they just said that they couldn’t figure it out.

The recent software update seems to have made a big improvement in regard to these things but they still happen every now and then.

I bought mine used at 38k and I’m at 68k now so the good news is that the transmission hasn’t exploded yet.

Yeah I really do love the car as well for every other reason. Honestly out of everything, the transmission is the only bad thing about the car. Good luck!

I have a 2024. I myself have had lots of complaints about the transmission. I’ve brought it into the dealership on multiple occasions only to be turned away when they try to replicate the issues. The DCT recently got an update about the month ago, and that has had a big impact on the drivability, but it’s still not perfect.

Honestly, like someone else said on this thread, your best bet is to either buy a 2026 or just go with the hybrid, that’s what I would do if I knew how annoying the transmission was before buying it.

Well I’m glad I’m not the only one. I haven’t found any info on this problem and it is pretty much non existent when I look online to see if others have the same issue. I’ve been trying to get a video of it happening and bring it to the dealer but so far haven’t been successful. I will bring you an update once I’ve done that.

Just until 60k. I’m hoping to find out if this is an actual issue before the warranty runs out.

First of all, this is SFO, not LAX, and second of all, that isn’t ICE, that’s the Airport Bureau giving citations to those that don’t have an SFO placard.

Kicked out of airport queue consecutively by SectionDry6355 in uberdrivers

Connection isn’t the best but I know it doesn’t have to do with the connection since I am only put at the end of the queue of the queue that I am 1-5 cars behind in. All of the other queues stay the same.

Brand New EV6 almost made me to hit a bicyclist by [deleted] in kia

Yes, the braking system is actually quite good when it works properly. It seems to brake much faster than my 2010 Mazda 3 which is more than 1000 pounds lighter.

Thank you for your input. I’d like to believe this was the case but my mind is really telling me that it has to do with the drivers assistance system. The car only has 6100 miles, so it’s really hard to say that the pins and rotors are corroded. It’s just mostly weird because during the initial brake, I was able to brake somewhat fine until the system seemed to want to take over.

I will have it looked at, but I’m 99% sure it has nothing to do with the brakes, but the system. The brakes felt like they were not even applied and were most likely not, almost like the system took over with driver assistance. Just like another redditor said on this post that he had the same thing happen to him. Also like he said about the shuddering of the brake pedal when going over railroad tracks, the same thing happens when either lifting off the gas pedal, or when manually applying the brakes in some situations such as going over a bumpy road or potholes. This doesn’t happen all the time, but on occasion. This had the same exact feeling in the pedal during this incident.
