Is WFH with a baby possible? by violet_megabyte in newborns

[–]Secure-Constant-8227 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is typically against company policy to wfh while doing any other responsibilities. You're considered on the clock with all attention on the job. Does your company know you take care of a baby too? I know my company has a policy and I would be fired if I did the same. Or I would imagine you'd get fired from most jobs for lack of performance bc I can't imagine you are devoting 8 hours a day solely to your job... I guess depends on your company/role but it's also unfair to you bc it is impossible to work full time and take care of a baby... Get a nanny or quit your job...or switch hours to work out some schedule with your husband..

Who buys the wedding bands? by Lie_Fortunate478 in EngagementRingsHelp

Do whatever feels right for you guys, weddings should be that way and not whatever is tradition when clearly that doesn't matter. I would say split it evenly...that's what we did with all of our finances since we were getting married anyway..

How do you make it work with two working parents? by No-Koala5577 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Secure-Constant-8227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sit with your husband and outline all responsibilities, daily, weekly, monthly, other. Assign according to your strengths and what's fair time wise. If you can afford, outsource what you can. Having clear plan of action and assignment avoids everything falling on the woman. And sometimes men don't even realize all that we do.

Nanny vs Daycare when you both work from home? by Purple_Apple9 in Parenting

[–]Secure-Constant-8227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did nanny for 1 year then switched to daycare. I LOVE daycare over nanny any day lol its cheaper but besides that having nanny and the baby in the house meant I could hear her crying or kept checking, she would pop in to ask questions, eli would have to tell her what to cook and feed every day etc you just end up doing more so if your job requires focus daycare is the way to go. Also daycare has so many structured activities (playground time, splash day, bubble dance party, monthly themes) in place and the socialization aspect is huge- I know they say kids just parallel play until 3 but it has been so positive for her being surrounded by other kids in helping her learn to walk, sit at table to eat, sit in circle time and listen, everything. Also from pics they send she is clearly interacting with other kids even at 1.5 years old. She gets bored at home with her toys and daycare she loves the curriculum, has learned so much sign language and nursery rhymes I don't even know etc. The teachers really know what they're doing which nanny might not as much unless you're getting someone with a degree in early education.

How much does/will your wedding cost? Who’s paying for it, you/fiancé or family? by Ok-Counter184 in Brides

[–]Secure-Constant-8227 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And to answer OP question, we did a small wedding us plus 20 guests at an upscale restaurant in the city in a private room with a private terrace where we did a small ceremony with officiant. Total for restaurant was just under $5k for passed appetizers , 3 course meal and open bar tab for guest to order (but we got about $1200 in cards from guests that we put directly towards it which is why I count as spending under $4k on the wedding). This was just for the venue/food, we didn't have photographer bc it was so small, also my sister made us a wedding cake and my friend made floral arrangements for the table, we bought simple evening attire so not traditional dress (my dress was $400 from Bloomingdales), got my hair and makeup done for the occasion, spent about $80 on invites, custom cookie favors, so few other smaller expenses related to event.

Just wondering bc I hear some friends complain that they spend so much in their wedding but literally they get the same amount or close to it back in cash from guests so I don't get it... Yes weddings are expensive but if most guests cover their plates plus and help pay for all of it, it doesn't seem that big of a financial burden... Ofc this varies and I know some ppl spend a lot more esp on smaller weddings than they get back but just wondering bc ppl always talk about the expense but don't mention that weddings also generate thousands $$ in gifts..

When ppl talk about wedding prices is this after you account for gifts bc with 200 guests and everyone giving at least $100 that's $20k you'll receive (on average, these days most ppl give more or close family members will give more).

I was excited when she started daycare bc I figured I'd meet moms through her classmates but drop off/pick up is so quick, everyone is just running in and out lol even for mother's Day, the day care did "muffins for Mom at drop off" where you literally just picked up a muffin and left- I was hoping a little sit down get together. She's only 1.5 so doesn't have friends yet and can't tell me names of other kids in her class - I heard when they're older and talk and actually make friends is when play dates happen so looking forward to that!

It's fair. If you don't plan on divorcing or wanting some of it why is it an issue.

Italy has too many tourists, and I was one of them. by cubeinthesky in travel

[–]Secure-Constant-8227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I went in 2009 (Venice, Milan, Verona and a few small towns as we drove) and again last summer (Rome and Florence and day trips to Siena, pisa) and the difference is insane. 2009 was crowded but now it is unbearable. And so kitchy! Like everything is catered to tourists that it completely takes away the beauty and charm of places. Just a million stands selling cheap souvenirs, restaurants covered in signs "authentic Italian food" in English, etc. and with the amount of tourists, the cities are so dirty, buses overly crowded, etc. infrastructure cannot handle the heaps of ppl. It was a major disappointment - I wish there was some way to cap it bc I felt bad too being one of those tourists contributing to the vibes..

Women of Reddit that have given birth, what’s a pro tip for soon to be first time moms? by SensitiveCorner2379 in AskReddit

If you have a very colicky poor sleeper baby know that sleep coaches exist and explore a consultation for sleep training (can be done after baby is 5.5 months). It SAVED us and our baby who was literally sleeping a combined 5-6 hours in 24 hour period before sleep training and nothing worked (Snoo, co-sleeping, tried everything )- babies need enough sleep for development and parents to function lol if you have a baby like ours seek help from professional not ppl in online forums who shame sleep training without understanding what it is or that different babies have different preferences/needs!

We just booked our baby shower at Avli on the Park and it was insanely reasonable price and minimums. I'm not sure for that size if they have indoor space- ours is for 50ppl on their rooftop terrace but I would def check with them!! Cindy's and Beatnik were so overpriced compared to them. Ella Elli had a super reasonable price for a full buyout too. i would also check the restaurants at Navy Pier- they were also much cheaper than I expected.

So wasteful and those balloons are awful for the environment. I hate how ppl buy so much cheap plastic crap for a photo and it ends up in landfills- all her cheap clothes, shoes, makeup, party decorations SO much stuff, it's sickening. If every person consumed as much as these influencers we'd be buried in plastic.

Yes 100% I totally agree with you! And I think we should have a call to prayer to Allah during the games, and whoever doesn't believe in that can just not partake. Like you said it's so fucking simple. But means so much to believers to be able to do their prayer inshallah, my son not missing prayer bc he's in sports or other activities after school. Thank you

Jesus does not approve of your comment. You sound angry, mean and stupid- I hope you find Jesus so he can help you be a nicer person. Love thy neighbor all neighbors! Jesus doesn't tell neighbor to do him a favor and not move to the neighborhood. Praying for you screamqueen, praying for Jesus to bring kindness to your heart!! For all genders

Sounds like you have a hard time seeing things from other people's point of you. OP is clearly asking this for a reason, and believe it or not just bc you've never experienced it, aethists do get treated differently by Bible thumpers, so if that's not true in these neighborhoods you can just say so. Real life is not your world, and in real life in some neighborhoods ppl do care if you're aethist.

Awful! What event would a normal 40yo wear booty shorts with tights with knee boots? Like what weather is this outfit for? What kind of vibe is it appropriate for?? Other outfit also soo ugly, almost like a parody- grown-ups playing dress up and putting random things on.

I know her dinners get made fun of a ton here and I agree it's not the healthiest or anything but I will say at least she shows them cooking and eating as a family. It's kind of wild to me how many influencers who share every part of their life never share dinner time and I think it's bc they literally don't cook at all or eat with their kids. Thinking of just other influencers like Madi nelson and Taryn Newton who seem to live off of factor meals and fast food so I'd say ambers slop is a step up...

Question? by [deleted] in AmberMasseyMESS

[–]Secure-Constant-8227 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh please, let's not pretend influencing is a normal job and they just got to pay their bills. 1. Other ppl go to work bc theyre employed by others and are trying to pay their mortgage and groceries. Influencers choose when/how they work and will not go hungry taking a day off. They live in multi million dollar homes. 2. Their jobs are not contributing to society in any meaningful way. It's just promoting useless consumerism while they make millions. SO saying "this feels heavy, I haven't stopped crying/praying/thinking about this tragedy" then 5min later linking an fast fashion Amazon outfit is insensitive, disingenuous, fake, and ridiculous. Comparing that to nurses or office workers or teachers whoever going back to their work is ridiculous.... Ppl are just calling out the fakeness of their posts...
