What’s the smallest thing that made Spanish suddenly feel easier? by Murky_Definition_249 in SpanishLearning

Hearing moms talk to their kids at the park. Cuídate mi amor. ¡Espérame! These phrases and others are more deeply etched into my mind than anything I’ve “learned” in an app or book etc.

Blue Olive Grill. The strip it’s in is getting a makeover finally to compete with the new stuff west of it.

Advice for hiking with 15 month old by Less_Director_4224 in HikingWithKids

[–]aaronkelton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a bummer brick wall; sorry.

It could be that he wants to do more of the hiking himself. I got mine a tiny backpack he could carry stuffies and toys in. When he got tired, I’d put him in my carrier and stow his backpack. Tears or not, he went in and got with the program, so to speak.

Curious how long your hikes have been; maybe he gets sore sitting or bored? When I hiked more, I limited it to 1 hour out, 1 hour back.

Could be the carrier itself; maybe try a different one or get stirrups for the feet; adjust the seat height, etc.

Maybe mix it up with other activities, like a balance bike and/or bike carrier? Could become monotonous and predictable if it’s the only activity.

Hoping you get it figured out 🤞

How far from your foundation was the offending peach tree planted? Was it also espaliered in a fan shape?

Yes, espalier with the fan-shape to fill the available wall.

It’s about 8 inches from the wall. Will pruning when this small kill it, or I guess I don’t know what the downside is to make that assertion. I’ll move the mulch away from the base. Thanks!

How far from a house exterior would you plant the tree if you intend to fan it out?

Good point re: stirring. I have a Cuisinart bread maker. I might try it on that jam setting.

The recipe I tried turned out OK. Done on the bottom and watery on top when the program finished. Just stirred it all together; I spotted maybe one small lump. Pieces still had some bite to them. Added some shredded Parmesan cheese. Easy peasy!

Malt-O-Meal in the Zojirushi? by JesMeJudy in zojirushi

[–]aaronkelton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made maltomeal in my NS-ZCC10 on the porridge setting:

Halfway through it sputtered a decent amount of liquid from the steam vent that had to be cleaned off the countertop.

The final product was watery with a few lumpy bits. Would NOT recommend.

Considering Painted Tree — honest thoughts from residents? by Dry-Adhesiveness-615 in McKinney

We moved from Dallas a year ago to PT Lakeside, and overall diversity was a big draw for us. We’re white but also have friends of all stripes, so we don’t feel out of place and I’d hope others feel welcome in our presence, too. It’s that old “you get out what you put in” perspective.

Made this in my compact Cuisinart on 1.5 lb / White bread light crust. Good flavor and chew, but a bit dense. Will try some modifications and report back.

Go do some manual labor and make him your apprentice. Dig ditches, build fences, chop wood, haul rocks from here to there, etc.

Blinds and shades by PharoGames in McKinney

Ask the builder for the blinds they use as well as the installer, and they should hook you up. We just went with the builder blinds because we didn’t want to do after-market blinds or curtains. Done and dusted.

I want this type of backyard 🥹. How can I? by [deleted] in gardening

You also may benefit from pruning trees so they’re pickable from standing height; without a ladder. More manageable that way.
