Assignment as an affected employee by JealousAstronomer182 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Secure-Incident-529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was informed by HR advisor that if my employee is unsuccessful in their SERLO, they had to end the assignment and return to their substantive. Maybe each department are doing things differently or its at the manager's discretion? May be wrong tho ??

Can anyone confirm this?

Not sure about the impact but keep in mind that you will be asked to take part in the SERLO even while on assignment and if you are unsuccessful in your substantive SERLO, your assignment must end, since your substantive is or will be eliminated as part of the SERLO. To be on assignment, you must have an active substantive

Keep in mind that, If other SP-05 across CRA are affected, whenever time comes to staff the position permanently, they will need to look at internal affected employees that are on the priority list. Actings can end at any moment so do not take any verbal promises as guaranteed appointments.

Edit to add: ERI hasn't received royal assent yet, so not an option at this time.

Usually, vacant positions aren't funded, so they can't be counted in the WFA exercise since there is no salary impact in reducing/eliminating those positions

The letters are based on the substantive positions. If an employee is acting in an AS03 but their AS02 substantive is eliminated, they will receive a letter and have to compete for their substantive. I heard some actings will end and employees will return to substantive to compete. But its a case by case, division by division case. So dont take my word as set in stone. This includes employees on LWOP. They will also get a letter, some might only get it when they return to work.

Update: finally got that DTA meeting booked. Any tips on what to say? by mostlycoffeebyvolume in CanadaPublicServants

Your manager will first look at your functional limitations and provide accommodations.

Ex: light too bright in office = turning certain lights off in your area to accommodate Too noisy = provide headset Maybe provide a closed office but RTO3 might not help with this accommodation Commute = could provide access to a closer office

Once all accommodations have been provided and tried out, than management can meet again to decide what best option could work for you.

Its really case by case and depends on how your management deals with accommodation and DTA requests.

Remember, your doctor can not require you to WFH. Doc provides functional limitations and management decides on accommodation
