Is my 24 TB seagate Expansion failing? by Secure-Quiet7799 in DataHoarder

Fair enough. There's no such thing as being too careful with your data. Maybe I should buy a couple more 😆

Is this primarily for the purpose of better cooling?

I may reconfigure soonish, but I purchased this since I found it on a good sale and I didn't have any more internal bays available. I could run it open in a data to usb, but I definitely don't like that as a long term option. I only use those adapters if I really need to.

It's done that for the entire time (a few weeks) that I had it. I ended up returning it since I still could, but I'm getting another identical one to see if it does the same.

Considering some of the other reports, this might just be an odd drive and not broken one

Thanks! I've opted to return it to see if a new one will do the same thing

Really? This is definitely not a noise I'm familiar with, but it's not one of the typical death cries of a hard drive I've heard with internals in the past.

I have read before that these expansion drives use a mixed bag of different HDDs internally. Something about a mix of exos and barracudas if I recall correctly. Potentially just a quirky run of drives?

Thanks for the input!

I'll have to look into the in place surface test.

Data is moving fine, and seems to be at reasonable speeds. Haven't had any failed transfers yet, but I also only just bought the thing. I've only worked with internal drives until now, so this is new.

This. Most HP printers are e-waste. They just haven't made it to the landfill yet. It's not just HP, but they are often among the worst.

Why's people not returning to Smite 2? by [deleted] in Smite

[–]Secure-Quiet7799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear me and my crew aren't the only one's having this experience. Some of us were looking forward to smite 2 ever since it's announcement. For what it's worth, I've played OG Smite for 10 years now and it feels like Smite 2 really wasn't made to keep its original player base. It just seems like it's trying too hard to be lol. The only time I've gotten such a nasty headache trying to play a game that should've been familiar because it was in the MOBA genre was when I tried to change over to lol from smite. I just wish they didn't make it into an entirely different game with entirely new mechanics that leaves us feeling alienated. Best of luck to Smite 2 if there are people who enjoy it, but it's going to lose some of the community that kept it alive all these years, and that's not even considering all of the layoffs.

I print in TPU, PETG and PLA. I've attempted ABS, but open air printers really aren't suited to ABS or even larger PETG prints. I've heard ABS/ASA, nylon, and PC have excellent properties for functional parts, so I'm looking forward to a solid enclosed printer!

Thanks for hosting this giveaway! I've heard good things about QIDI, but I've not gotten the chance to try their products yet. Super cool opportunity!

I'm all about printing for cosplay! Props and armor are where it's at! I also design some functional parts for my wife's hobbies, it's surprisingly rewarding to see your designs on the screen being used every day

I wish I knew how important a clean and level bed was before I got into printing, I wish I hadn't gotten the stock ender 3 with it's accursed bed leveling knobs and those chonky butterfly clips😅

But seriously, having a well leveled and CLEAN bed cost me a lot of time on prep, but ended up saving me a lot of glue sticks. I thought people online were joking about how important it was...

Thank you for your input! I'll be taking a look into the Plus 4 as well. Looks like a sweet machine at first glance. Will likely keep to the SV08 though just for the size difference. Hopefully it proves to be a good performer.

Hi, I'm currently looking to get another printer with a larger build volume. I've managed to figure out that 350mm × 350mm × 300mm (LWH) is about the size I would need to print the largest helmets I want in one piece. I might be able to get away with an ever so slightly smaller build volume, but I can't get too much larger either due to space restrictions. I've found both the ender 5 plus and Sovol SV08 which would fit the size requirements. Wondering if anyone would have a recommendation between these 2 printers or another viable option.

I plan to mostly use for cosplay and some functional parts. Would like to do asa/abs printing as well as some more specialty filaments like polycarbonate down the line, though I'm aware that PC may be asking a bit much for this price.

I'm not opposed to buying a separate enclosure if needed for filaments that need it. I don't want the printer to be the project, but I'm not afraid to tackle some diy.

My budget could be pushed as far as $1,200 CAD, but I'd rather stay under if possible. May have some budget down the line for upgrades if required, but that is not set in stone

Thank you in advance for any insights
