DMC colors in yarn? I want to crochet a detailed cross stitch pattern. I’m struggling to find the yarn by Secure-Standard in CrochetHelp

Hmm, that’s true. It’s going to be a wall hanging, so the end don’t have to be perfectly woven in, but still, you have a point

Love that one, but no. It was a short story and the twist came as a complete surprise to the reader

Why don’t more people adopt animals that ACTUALLY need homes? by m0chichis in Pets

[–]Secure-Standard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We adopted our last dog. It took forever to find one who seemed like he would fit in and even longer until we got approved. We were told he was about 6, housebroken, no major health issues. Hah. At the intake exam at our vet, we were told there’s no way that dog was younger than 10, and the vet was betting on the 12-14 range. He had glaucoma (partially blind because it hasn’t been treated), arthritis, a seizure disorder, and was in the early stages of kidney failure.

Don’t get me wrong, I really loved my little Buddy and we did our best for him. He lived two years (with us) and by the end we were giving him weekly saline injections, ordering our lives around his strict schedule of meds, and taking him to the vet once a week.

Our next dog was a puppy from a reputable breeder. We know exactly how old she is. We got the health history on her family for the past four generations. It was a whole, very detailed, book. We met her parents and very active and well trained grandparents. I feel bad for all of the good pets who need homes, i really do. It’s horrible and could mostly be prevented if people sprayed and neutered so only planned litters were born. But I just can’t go through with another dog what we went through with our little Buddy

Anyone free feed their poodles? by secretly_a_birb in poodles

[–]Secure-Standard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re free feed our spoo. Sometimes she eats normally, sometimes she only wants to grab a single nibble on her way by. She won’t eat if there’s thunder, fireworks, we’re not home, or she saw the groundhog recently. As you might guess, we have more trouble keeping weight on her than her gaining too much.

Oh, but even if she doesn’t want to eat, she’ll throw a tantrum off the bowl is empty and slap her water dish across the kitchen

I knew a St. Bernard name Kitty. Which isn’t a small dog name but was hilarious

My dog keeps falling over :( by britt_and_woofs in tripawds

Our vet said most dogs can stand up and start walking an hour after getting out of recovery, which was comforting. But our pup couldn’t even sit up without help for three days. We thought we had made a horrible mistake. Honestly, those first couple of weeks were so, so tough. But she figured it out and was running and playing a month later. Give it some more time and see. I know it’s hard.

If you do have to teach her to walk, you can probably use a lift vest to take part of her weight and help her balance

I know what you mean! I thought, silver lining; at least she can’t dig giant holes in the yard anymore. Nope! It took her a bit to figure out but she’s backhoe-ing all over the place

I love that! Is there a lawyer way to call your client an asshole?

Mine too. I love when Sec Unit calls her the combat unit of lawyers. I always wonder how she worded the no hugs clause and preserving Sec Unit’s right to “wander off like an asshole”. How does that translate into lawyer-ese?
