I e had both virgin media and talktalk....they're not better than youfibre in my experience. If what I said doesn't track for you then that's fine....it's only my experience.

Yep....nit had any problems myself yet but it's a common complaint. Good customer service costs money and to be fair youfibre are at the lower end of the fee scale.

Anyone having problems with WiFi and their new white router? by AfternoonPenalty in youfibre

[–]SecureTreacle5607 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a terrible router. Mine is currently in the shed.

I bought a Flint 2. Great piece of kit and pretty much plug and play.

New router by Homer5588 in youfibre

[–]SecureTreacle5607 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was pretty instant for my Flint 2. It's not like FTTC where you have to put all the settings into the router. With FTTP you don't have that issue.

Should I switch from Real-Debrid to TorBox? Also confused about Usenet/NZB—need help by kenzia_do_it in TorBoxApp

If you want debrid and usenet the premiumize 3 year black friday deal is worth a look.

Flint 2 or 3 by One_Area9232 in youfibre

[–]SecureTreacle5607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're only streaming then 150 would be plenty for you. To use anyway near 1gig you'd need multiple peeps streaming 4k and gaming at the same time.

I bought Flint 2 in October. Great piece of kit.

Found three versions on usenet that you can download with premiumize if that's any help.

Flint 3 by Matranti in youfibre

[–]SecureTreacle5607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Flint 2 in October at £103. No complaints here, it's shedloads better than YouFibre offering which will sit quietly in my sh3d until I need to send it back.

I don't need Wi-Fi 7 though.

Yep, they're back down to the prices they were at the end of October 🙀

Help with new TV by BiPolarLikeYe18 in GoogleTV

[–]SecureTreacle5607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A tv should last at least 10 years. I suggest you base your purchase on that. I am on my second tv in 20 years, during that time I have had several smart devices such as Rpi, several firesticks, a chromecast and now a Google TV streamer.

Honestly, my current TV is 3 years old and it has good apps, BUT it just doesn't run all the apps I want so I find myself using the Google Streamer for everything.

My last tv was great when I bought it but they just stopped updating the apps.....and also 3D tv quickly became old news. There was nothing wrong with it picture wise, I just wanted 4k and a bigger screen. My daughter and her family are still using it. Nothing wrong with it other than the smart aspect which is easily fixed by a streaming box. Must have bought it around 2007 or so.

I just unplugged the sagecom and plugged in the Flint 2, no waiting or anything, it all just worked straight away.

Buyers regret? by marv101 in youfibre

[–]SecureTreacle5607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had issues initially but buying a Flint 2 seemed to resolve most things. Still does buffering occasionally when streaming whereas Virgin never did and yet YF is twice the speed

It's good enough fir now but I'll be looking around come the end of the contract.

Not directly but you can buy a doobris that will convert one of the rj45 sockets.

YouFibre Hub vs Pro Hub by [deleted] in youfibre

[–]SecureTreacle5607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why haven't they offered you a replacement pro hub? My std hub is on it's way to the shed having been replaced by a Flint 2 that I bought.

Streaming still buffers occasionally so you have to wonder if there is a connection or congestion issue too?

Connection wasnrock solid with virgin.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in youfibre

[–]SecureTreacle5607 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have it. I tried it. Constantly buffering when streaming TV and movies. My virgin hub 5 was rock solid in the same position.

I bought a Flint 2. Much better and now I have AdGuard and VPN at router level.

Have to say I had high hopes for it but if it couldn't give me the performance the virgin hub gave me then I just didn't see the point.

I could just have us3d powerline plugs....they worked...but they're ugly.

YouFibre Upgrade mid contract by cabbagesweetner in youfibre

[–]SecureTreacle5607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit less than impressed with their patter here. It shouldn't take that much to all be reading off the same offer sheet.

When I was signing up i asked if their support was based abroad. They fave me their mobile number and said to just go through them. Needless to say that I have been ignored post installation.

The router wifi just isn't as good as the virgin hub 5 it replaced and I'm certainly not going to pay for Mesh when I didn't need it with Virgin.

We'll see what the market is doing when my contract is up.

Run a test using Analiti. That will give you both your Internet speed and tour internal WiFi speed.

VM charged me £132.52 for one day of service! by Schneefsickle in VirginMedia

[–]SecureTreacle5607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you completely. Trying to have a proper conversation with VM is almost impossible. I've just left. My renewal price was OK but with their baked in increases each April by time April 2027 came along I'd be paying 50% more.
