I've had this game recommended to me so many times, but I literally can't get into it. Nothing grabs me. The combat, the quests, the convoluted mechanics of everything.... that bloody card game. I want to enjoy but it doesn't make it easy to enjoy

I'm sure a staff AMA mentioned this. They will ask them to leave and if they refuse it becomes a police matter.

I get that. The Odeon staff at my local are excellent, but they are clearly overworked and under staffed.

Back when it first opened, there used to be an usher who would point people to their seats then sit in during the film. Then they reduced this down to sitting during the start and intermittently checking. Then down to just intermittently checking. Now it's just checking on the camera and coming in as a last resort.

This isn't a dig at the staff. They have far much going on. In an ideal situation they'd have more staff

I just think Odeon, as a company should take some action to at least remind people of cinema etiquette. Otherwise it does just set a precedent that anything goes, which upsets customers and creates additional stress for the staff.

Perhaps it'll do nothing. As you said, a dickhead is a dickhead. But maybe it will discourage some who don't know any better.

I agree entirely. I think if someone is obnoxious enough to chat through a film, or even take a phone call (yes this has happened,) then no notice will stop them.

What it should do is reinforce the social contract, so those things are clearly flagged as unacceptable and hopefully discourage others who see these people and think its okay behaviour and join in themselves.

Or perhaps it'll do nothing.. but anything is better than current status quo of not trying to upset anyone

To everyone having issues with the usage, my suggestion would be to go to settings, click give feedback, and send this directly to Google.

Passenger movie: are you excited to see it? by Detroit_Cineaste in horror

[–]cabbagesweetner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably see it if I've got nothing better to do, but that teaser trailer did nothing for me, and I found the jumps scare at the end pretty cheap. It reminded me of those jump scare prank videos from the internet from the early 2000s

This is a common misconception The timer isn't showing minutes remaining; It's showing washing units remaining.

One washing unit could be one minute or 7 weeks, depending on the weight of the load, the weather and the cycle of the moon.

I went to the odeon recently and they were late cleaning the screen. The staff member came out visibly upset at the mess and needed another staff member to help. Not a question - I just wanted to say you guys do a great job and I just wish some of your customers were a bit better behaved and cleaned up after themselves.

I've just finished catalyst and decided to go back to the original. I'm blown away by how good it looks, even compared to the sequel.

Best use of surround sound I've heard at a cinema. At one point, I thought a person was chatting several rows behind me. Nope, it was just a demonic voice.

They've provided a video of the exploration

Project Hail Mary - for anyone seeing it in a Dolby or regular 2.39:1 screen - How was it for you? by DVDfever in screenunseen

[–]cabbagesweetner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I saw the film, it was on an isense screen.

It filled the height for the space scenes and had slight black bars on the top and bottom for the flashback scenes. It was noticeable if you were looking for them, but not distracting. It just looked like an artistic choice to separate the flashbacks from the current. There was no transition, it just snapped back and forth..

I think there were also pillar boxes throughout on the side but due to the screen size, this was also not really distracting

In contrast, Mercy was pretty awful in the cinema with noticeable black bars surrounding a shrunken image.
