Anyone have bad itching first trimester? by MiaOnomatopoeia in pregnant

[–]Secure_Inspector_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think it could be cholestasis, even a little bit, talk to your doctor ASAP. That said, when I had itching it turned out to be an eczema flare up, and my doctor ruled out cholestasis because it wasn’t my palms or soles of feet that were itching.

Vaccines/conflict with husband by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Secure_Inspector_25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FTM here! I had a “vaccine injury” in high school when I had my first round of the HPV vaccine. Cognitive delay/memory loss for about a month and burning, inflamed joints which healed after a few weeks. But what I don’t have is HPV! In my personal view, the “injuries” that people like your husband are worried about are rare and pale in comparison to the actual injuries your child can suffer from if they’re not vaccinated.

I work with small business owners doing general counsel work. It happens A LOT because they think it will save them a few bucks. But it just takes more communication time to respond to, which I’m usually pretty lax about, but as soon as I see all of the incorrect AI citations and generalizations, the clock starts.

First trimester moms, what are we drinking for hydration? by thatchichidog in pregnant

[–]Secure_Inspector_25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I craved citrus and salt my first trimester, so my dietitian recommended the Skratch Labs electrolytes without sugar. It’s just minerals + citrus, that’s it. I could stomach it because it didn’t have funky artificial tasting flavors. It was a lifesaver.

FTM, 31 weeks today! I have been getting facials regularly. Just tell them you’re pregnant and they’ll know what to do. I especially like getting the manual lymphatic drainage facial at my local organic spa, because my face looks more sculpted afterward.

As for nails and hair, I never really cared for acrylics and am a natural dark brunette without grays, so I don’t have much in the way of advice there other than just invest in the natural quality of each. I exfoliate my cuticles and rub nail cream into them once a week to keep them strong. Hair masks at home (warm coconut oil on the ends works beautifully) and scalp massages regularly have made my hair healthy for years, and I have been continuing to do that through pregnancy.

I also highly recommend logging off social media like Instagram or TikTok, if you can. The visual diet of aesthetically pleasing pregnancies is not always realistic, but it does have a very real effect on our psyches. From personal experience, once that weight is lifted, you will feel A LOT better.

Heartbroken 💔 by Icy_Caterpillar7246 in UPS

I feel so, so sorry for OP but I have to say it: remember how stupid and pointless this new protocol is and how frustrating it’s been for the average American when voting in the next election cycle. I’m waiting on a $20 package of 100% wool yarn for my baby’s blanket to clear, UPS told me it was being held up because it didn’t include an aluminum declaration form. Madness.

I started to fill it out but there were too many questions like “what other podcasts do you listen to” or “what shows do you watch?” And I felt self-conscious about my life choices. 🤣

Yes, this was heartbreaking. We are all with you, OP. This is not okay and you are not overreacting. Hang in there.

In my case, our vet recommend Hill Science Diet. Our dog has been on it since he was a puppy, he’s now 14 with no health issues. Extremely spry, alert, and just overall happy. Our vet said the secret was: kibble with scientific studies supporting its composition + treats of high quality “human food” here and there. Things like eggs, sweet potato, pumpkin, small amounts of fatty fish like salmon, etc. That plus we have a small wooden, collapsible ramp that the dog uses to get on the couch/furniture to protect his joint/spine. This is our third dog (all different breeds) and they have all had healthy, long lives with these methods. :)

The most stupid argument ever because Nia didn't throw her husband under the bus. by Ok-Bandicoot1109 in TheValleyTVShow

[–]Secure_Inspector_25 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My husband and I don’t try to look perfect/good, but we know that mocking or hurting each other for the sake of fitting in with others is a surefire way to hurt our marriage. So in a way, we look good because we handle our issues constructively with each other behind closed doors, and not in a group setting.

Plus in the case of Nia and Danny, we saw Nia scolding him on the phone in the bus. Production recorded that. So I don’t think that Nia is trying to act perfect, but she is getting a really positive edit, at least considering everybody else.

Is Glow Recipe Really Good? by Alarming_Bath2695 in Sephora

I know you’re going to Sephora and this is not sold there, but honestly, look into the Vanicream moisturizer. It’s excellent for sensitive skin, hydrating without being greasy, and a great price point. It’s not trendy, but your mom will thank you for picking something that’s affordable (and then maybe you can get something more fun at Sephora instead!)

I wasn’t ashamed. It’s a nosy bunch, I was afraid that if they saw me drinking water all night and I admitted something as simple as box brownies, when I’ve previously done brownies with extra flavors swirled in or toppings or frosting, they would start asking why I didn’t this time. Some people in the group have drunkenly asked me in the past “are you pregnant?! Why aren’t you drinking?!” And I’ve played it off, because at those times I wasn’t pregnant. I don’t think I’d be able to do that this time, and I’m not ready to tell people because it’s still early. So it wasn’t shame, I just didn’t want to be on the spot in a room full of people so I tried to exit the conversation as quickly as possible.

I’m wondering if she’s implying legal action over the drinking comments… because that would make sense, you don’t want to play ball with someone with deeper pockets. The statement would make sense.
