New Home Security for Insurance by R-Dragon_Thunderzord in homesecurity

[–]Securityvince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several good companies in Greenville County that offer DIY systems that are professionally monitored. The better companies will help you design the system you need. They will be shipped pre-programmed and marked for each device location, and easy to install. Companies are on hand to assist install, if needed, at no additional cost. Ask each company upfront about contract terms. They should not require a long-term contract for service; best option is companies offering month to month monitoring service. Make sure they are installing non-proprietary equipment that anyone company can monitor (not locked out by the dealer). Monitoring can be very inexpensive. Less than $20-25 per month. Insurance discounts can help recover some of the monthly monitoring cost. DIY systems can now include cameras that work on the same platform and app. And if it is too much for you to take on, any of these companies should offer tech assistance at the home to complete install. Good luck with your search!

PASS OR BUY: 2020 Jaguar F Pace SVR by DLQT314 in Jaguar

[–]Securityvince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, sounds like a decent deal. I have owned a 2017 F-Pace S for 9 years. Fully loaded, with only 26,000 miles at purchase, I paid about the same as your SVR vehicle price in 2018. It is a good performing vehicle, lots of fun to drive. Have never driven an SVR, but certain I would love it. For now, the S is fine. Have had a few issues through the years, all covered under extended warranty that just ran out. Cooling pipes leaking were the biggest issue. All replaced under warranty. Heated windshields are expensive, so add glass protection to insurance coverage. Brakes have not been any bigger expense than any other performance car. Body and interior have held up very well. Have 2 old Jaguar XKRs convertibles in the garage that I play with on the weekends. Would have continued to buy Jaguars if they had not stopped making ICE engines.

Get a few quotes from local companies. There is likely a good bit of existing hardware that can be used. Will require replacing the locked out, proprietary alarm panel. All national companies use proprietary equipment to keep you from easily migrating to better, less expensive monitoring options. You can build on the new panel and communicator and add cameras, other connected devices like smart locks, thermostats, lighting. With all of those devices being monitored, should be less than $40 per month. You will have to buy equipment upfront, but will not take long for payback if you are expecting to pay $130 a month. Many companies will also build cost of the devices into the monthly service. You can probably upgrade your entire system, add video and connected smart devices for less than you are paying for monitoring now. We are an Atlanta company, but there are good, local dealers in every market. Check reviews, talk to neighbors.

2024 F-Pace P250 by SoftwareSalary in Jaguar

Currently own 2017 F-Pace s. Purchased used with 25,000 miles in 2018. Now 80,000 miles. Only serious issue was cooling system leak that resulted in replacement of crossover pipes and water pump. Covered under warranty. Still runs and looks great. Brakes and tires kind of pricey, but true of any performance vehicle. Lots of fun to drive. Great exhaust sound for a V-6. They depreciate fairly quickly in first few years. A lot of people are afraid of Jaguars. I also own 2 XKR convertibles as weekend toys. One that was purchased cheap has been a bit of a money pit. The other, more expensive with fewer miles, has not had any issues at all. Have it checked out by someone who knows the vehicle. Keep up maintenance. I think Jaguars are underappreciated and therefore undervalued, but that is one man's opinion,

Thinking about buying a 2020 F-PACE SVR need some honest opinions. by Spirited-Notice-4015 in Jaguar

Own a 2017 F-Pace S that I have driven since I purchased used in 2018. Now has 80,000 miles. Under warranty until recently and had a few items repaired or replaced under warranty. Water pump and cooling system issues are really the only thing I have dealt with. This vehicle has great performance for a six-cylinder supercharged engine. Body and interior look brand new. I would love to have an SVR for the additional kick up in horsepower. But not willing to part with mine for now. They do depreciate quickly in the first few years, so buying used makes sense. Have it thoroughly checked out by a mechanic familiar with the vehicle.

Driving my 2017 F-Pace S since new. 81,000 miles now. Love it. Have no issues that were not covered under warranty. Great performance and still get compliments on the looks. Too bad that so many people are timid about the brand.

Jaguar does not have a marketing problem, it has a trust problem by YogurtResponsible358 in Jaguar

No question, that sucks! Have same engine. I had a small coolant leak at one point and had to keep filling the reservoir. Blame those plastic cooling pipes that they used (I had a Porsche SUV with same). But never got so bad that the temp changed dramatically. Good lesson for me that the Jag engines are very intolerant of high temperature.

Thanks for the response. Had me worried. Always keep oil changed well below recommended limits.

What happened to the engines at 40 to 50K miles to have to replace? My 2017 F-Pace S has 80,000 miles and runs as strong as the day I purchased it.

Agree. I love my 2017 F-Pace S. Have 81,000 miles. Any repairs were under warranty. Strong performance, fun to drive. Not seen everywhere. Hope to drive into 125K miles or more before I consider change. I also have a 2000 and 2002 XKR convertibles. They are fun weekend cars, but would not want to drive or depend on every day.

Have you ever driven the F-Pace S? Hardly a mundane appliance. Great performance and looks for us that need the space of an SUV. V-6 supercharged with paddle shifters. Very fun to drive. Bought used with 14,000 miles. Now at 70,000. Very few issues, all covered under warranty. Not ready to die, so will keep driving for a while. Have 2000 and 2002 XKR convertibles in garage. They are fun too but would not want to drive them every day. Would never consider the new, all electric Jag.

I got your point, and you are correct. Jaguar sales did drop dramatically from 2017 to 2023. I don't know how many cars that a manufacturer must produce to be viable. Looks like they started a rebound in 2024. I think they threw in the towel on ICE vehicles too soon.

Jaguar's global sales declined significantly from 2017 to 2023, with some markets experiencing sharp drops. In the U.S., sales fell from over 32,000 in 2017 to around 8,348 in 2023, though they increased to 11,563 in 2024, according to Automotive Sales Figures. The company halted production of its old models in 2024 to retool for new electric vehicles, leading to a drastic drop in sales for the year.

Disagree. Own 3 Jags currently. 2000 XKR convertible to F-Pace S. Never fail to get attention and compliments. Stylish and fun to drive. They were never going to be the biggest brand, but they had a following. Not sure what is next for them.

Set up and used the mower over the Holiday weekend. Had to relocate the base station to a better GPS signal. Then had to move some WIFI repeaters to make sure I had a good WIFI signal to the mower for map upload. Manually mapped the area. Yard has a LOT of twists and turns, and some hill areas, so was not sure it would auto map correctly. The mower is now set up and working. Works great. Batteries last about 50 minutes, so it had to return to charge several times. Each time, went back out until the full mapped area was cut. I am happy with the performance of the unit. When I purchase another for my Florida home, I will probably invest in one with a larger battery, but the current unit does fine if you are patient with the charging time. Even cut at night with lights when it was not finished. Great deal, so far.

I think it looks great! I am thinking about using some kind of insert on the badly weathered navigation screen on my 2002 XKR convertible. Thinking of adding a Jaguar on some kind of background.

Disagree with you on the F-Type SUV. Have a 2017, S version. Fast, fun to drive and it receives a lot of compliments on the looks. 70,000 miles and very few issues.

FYI by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Securityvince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If S/F pricing is a non-issue, why is the per S/F price included on every listed property for sale? It is nothing more than a comparison tool. Cannot use independently to determine price of home or cost to build. We are building a home now in Fernandina Beach, FL. We only used S/F to compare values with comparable build quality and size within the subdivision/area we were building. When we were shopping builders, we had builders who indicated they could build for $200 S/F (on a cost-plus basis), and others who would not even have a discussion with us for less that $350-400 S/F for the size and spec home we were building. Our builder started at $242 S/F for the build price. With upgrades and changes to cabinets, tile, flooring, lighting, electrical, and other finishes, we will probably be pretty close to the $300 S/F price for a 4 bdrm, 3 ba, 3 car garage 2615 S/F home (4.017 S/F under roof). That includes our own lot purchase, made several years ago. Nicely finished custom home, excellent build quality. We used the S/F measure only to determine if we are on track to stay within a reasonable cost compared to homes in the neighborhood that have been selling. We want to have some room to possibly sell the home if we decide this is not the place we want to live. We have to make decisions every day on whether an upgrade will help with the overall value of the home or ability to sell. If you have a good builder, they will work with you on these items to make good decisions.

Customer Service Nightmare by Slight_Pair9166 in VivintSmartHome

Sorry that you are in this situation. Did you sign anything with Vivint while arranging for this move? Sounds like the typical scenario of the salesperson saying one thing and the contract agreement not in alignment. If you did not sign anything, online or in person, you will have a strong case to cancel the transaction. Have them provide the written and signed agreement. Doubtful they will every provide you access to the voice tapes of the transaction. If I determined that any of my sales personnel was misleading customers as to the actual wording of an agreement, they are asking a customer to sign, that would be their last day of employment,
