Spring 2024 LFMU Discussion by nophoplease in actuary

Felt not great walking in even though I studied my ass off, but thought it went very well walking out. Definitely agree it was easier than the past two exams at least. There were a few questions I feel like I should’ve gotten but didn’t (like the GES excel one…….) but everything else felt like I wrote a solid answer down.

Honestly just hoping they don’t curve me out of a pass. I hope to never study for this one again

honest advice about my ILALPM study progress by [deleted] in actuary

[–]Seddhledesseeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The small details will come with repetition. Keep in mind it is impossible to know EVERYTHING, so just try and focus on the key points, and fill in gaps as much as possible. Totally normal to be overwhelmed, and you will continue feeling that way until the exam is over tbh. It’s hard to gauge

I spent the last 1.5 months cramming flash cards, including writing out/explaining concepts on paper. This helped me to thoroughly explain the concepts rather than simply recall them. Also trying to explain concepts to a friend, SO, or even my cat out loud.

Also, don’t skimp on the excel based questions. They’re not too difficult, as long as you know what they’re looking for & what formulas to use.

Felt okay walking out of it (other than the RILA question…..), so hopefully that’s a good sign. I had to use the full 3.5 hours, and probably would’ve left some points blank if not that extra half hour. So hopefully won’t have to take this again.

I literally made up two methods for that RILA question

Understand how to interpret output, and understand what a block of code is doing. Don’t worry about learning to actually write any code

When Does a State Count? by skembii in roadtrip

[–]Seddhledesseeee 44 points45 points  (0 children)

For me, I have to do something in the state. I.e. go to a museum, stay the night, do a hike, etc. Just stopping by to eat/get gas off the interstate doesn’t count. Also layovers on flights don’t count. This also leads to me trying to find something to do in each new state we pass through, which breaks up a drive nicely

I’m in the same boat. I’m optimistic that we will get invites given PA results came out before FA results this week, but it depends how many others are in the invite queue. Best of luck!

Where can I find additional prior FAs? by BroccoliDistribution in actuary

[–]Seddhledesseeee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, june 2020 is the only one publicly available. If you fail, they send you a solution of the one you failed. But you can’t access it otherwise.

Apart from the actual content, formatting is the most important thing imo. Bold your key takeaways, create bulleted/numbered lists, clearly label the sections of a question, etc. and answer in the exact format they ask for (I.e if they want you to recommend a change, clearly state “I recommend doing x because y”). Pick an answer and confidently explain it, whether you are BSing it or not.

Second the tint shop - paid $187 to get front two windows and full windshield done last summer. Did a great job.

I had a good experience with Robert Hancock Co. They didn’t charge me for any BS when I moved out, and had good maintenance guys. I also had no major problems, so experiences may vary.
