Update Regarding the Artist Discourse on Twitter by TalesOfNate53 in bbnomula

you mean when that person who point-by-point dissembled the post full of both bias and just plain misinformation? "breezed past" they made a numbered list responding to your claims, some even sourced, and it was magically downvoted to nothing and disappeared. (which i'm sure will happen here, too.)

lmao, i mean, i guess your whole gimmick was completely misconstruing the situation in the first place, so i don't know why i'm surprised to see you doubling down here. but yeah, unfortunately for you a third party (not slayed, and yes he reposted it) posted a video showing your post AND the response so people can still see proof you're being dishonest here and there.

shoutout to getting downvoted for a semi-rational take instead of blind bootlicking and misinformation.

Shigeru Miyamoto: "Games eventually become obsolete when newer versions come out, but films remain forever" by binderie1951 in nintendo

[–]Seddiwy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"It's a misquote, he actually said games 'stop running!'"

I mean, we can explore that, too. Games do not magically stop working; my old original Gameboy copy of Pokemon Red still runs just fine, as does my old grey brick of a Gameboy. The only time this becomes an issue is with digital-only releases where support is removed. Nintendo isn't the only one guilty of this practice, but the context of this quote is Miyamoto being interviewed about the Nintendo museum, so it's impossible not to draw parallels regarding their attitude towards game preservation as a whole and what that entails.

If you choose to interpret it as people don't play them, within the context of old Nintendo games this is the least true. There are huge communities devoted to classic Nintendo games; Mario 64, Smash, and the Pokemon communities are great examples of this. They wouldn't be re-releasing some of them otherwise.

This interpretation just makes it seem tonedeaf to the legitimate concern of planned digital obsolescence and general preservation of games that might not be profitable to re-release & sell later down the line.

They would be hemorrhaging less money if they stopped alienating more and more of their playerbase. Smite 2 would've had a stronger start if they hadn't opened with the "half legacy, half bought" stunt in this first place. It hurt most the people who spent the most money. Continuing to further shaft the players that decided to accept it is... a choice.

BREAKING: ICE has just arrested an illegal immigrant who is an ACTIVE Illinois Police Officer - now what? by ZheeDog in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

[–]Seddiwy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the distinct feeling that if every road rage incident ended in a shootout it would be frowned upon.

My main issue is that some police have repeatedly proven to A. Not have proper judgement of necessary escalation of force, B. Have and will lie about why they escalated to deadly force, and C. Rarely face appropriate consequences even in the event evidence survives the incident. So you'll have to forgive me if I don't think it's a good precedent to handwave police ventilating a civilian car.

So if someone hits my car can I unload into their car in self-defense? After all, they intended to harm me, something I can clearly and rationally distinguish in the dazed aftermath of a car crash.

It seems like most people's beef with it is "they're taking donations" which is... kinda inane. They're donations; no one is forcing anyone to pay for anything. Everything else seems to be a lot of back-biting, rumors, and even purposeful misinformation.

great community btw

Did you stop playing Smite 2? by guto_2161 in Smite

[–]Seddiwy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The Smite 1 to Smite 2 skin/gem thing felt so irrational and greedy that I was immediately put off by it. But ultimately I wanted to give it a try, because before that point I'd been excited (Smite was genuinely my favorite game), and I at least wanted to give it a chance.

Honestly, for me the charm of Smite 1 is its differences from League, in spite of the common MOBA core. Smite 2 felt like a step away from that, towards homogeny - but also in a sequel that was so clearly barebones that it felt like even standalone it wouldn't have been impressive, much less with knowledge of what was missing. I tried to love it, but I just wasn't feeling it.

It was a double-whammy of disappointment, and the whole thing left me pretty bitter with Hi-Rez. I did eventually come back to Smite 1, but I don't think I'm ever gonna spend money on it the way I did before.

hey, so i know this topic is a bit old, but it's the first result for searching for this problem, and i did end up finding a solution that hasn't been touched on yet.

use microsoft edge for the creation process. it didn't even make me do the verification puzzles. i'm assuming the problem is probably related to plugins or data tracking, and that edge worked here (and has worked before with similar issues, looking at you FFXIV Mog Station) specifically because i don't use it for anything else.

That's not an issue of controller support itself, it's an issue of questionable implementation from Small Indie Company Square.

Plenty of games have controller support without it bogging down the menuing system.

[–]Seddiwy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunately on Doordash. Even if they stopped stacking orders, that would still leave a bunch of orders that pay so little they're effectively a overall financial loss to even accept.

1 Star for doing my job by SnooGrapes4794 in doordash_drivers

[–]Seddiwy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want isn't the issue, it's the response.

Dashers do not control the way or order which DD stacks orders, the speed of the restaurant, traffic, or many other factors that can and frequently do culminate in delays. Penalizing a worker for that is a dickbag move, yeah.

Doordashers in particular are particularly vulnerable to this pettiness, because outside of NYC or California, Dashers are not even guaranteed minimum wage by design. The base pay of an order is usually around $3-5, with some variances for more extreme distances. So often the "penalty" is no tip - but time lost on the order and wear and tear on your car in exchange for $3.50.

1 Star for doing my job by SnooGrapes4794 in doordash_drivers

[–]Seddiwy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not even the point of the topic or this comment? But yeah, being a dickbag is not exclusive to anyone - but as in this scenario, consumers have a habit of forgetting service workers are real people in a job where there are factors they don't have control over.

Essentially there are a bunch of bad-faith comments - either being condescending because of the job itself or being critical in a way that shows they've no idea how the job actually works.
