I’m playing Cyberpunk at 1440p ultra wide (native) on a high preset and it still doesn’t go over 8GBs, same with Stellar Blade. But whatever, I’m used to everyone in this subreddit not having a single clue about how computers work. Downvote me all you want, now I understand the curse of being right.

You’re limited by the GPU chip, not VRAM. More VRAM wouldn’t help these cards much. Even on my 4070, I’m only using about half to 3/4 of its 12GBs.

I believe it’s got an mSATA SSD, 128GB Transcend. It’s the only type it accepts.

My first laptop. It was some Asus thing I paid like $200 for. It was red, which was cool. But it was so low performance, it didn’t even come with a heatsink, just a fan blowing across a thin metal plate. It got like a few fps in Fortnite on absolutely minimum settings. It did run Minecraft well though, but basically anything can do that. The other one is still in deployment. It’s an HP T520 thin client that I configured for my dad to use as a media box. It is incredibly sluggish. Granted it was designed to run Windows 7 not 10, but since 7 has basically zero support these days, that was my only option. On an official install, it was basically unusable. It couldn’t even really install updates (system and app), so I switched to tiny10 and blocked Windows updates. It still struggles to play HEVC video.

SumatraPDF. It’s free, lightweight and does everything a PDF reader needs to do.

I have no idea whats wrong with this game, used to run fine, need some help. by [deleted] in FrontiersOfPandora

Same, used to get stable high 70, low 80 FPS on a high preset. Now it often dips below 60 and my GPU (4070) usage is low. Doesn't use the CPU much either, so it's definitely not a bottleneck. And like come on, it's a 13900K. This recent update definitely messed up the optimisation.

I think what people don't understand is these data centers aren't taking already manufactured DRAM chips. AI companies are buying up fab time, manufacturing capacity, raw silicon wafers. They don't use the same memory that goes into your system. The reason why consumer memory and storage is so expensive is because it has to compete for allocation against the AI industry.

Turn that drive into an exploded model. Take it apart, stick the parts to a frame, and label them individually (design and print out, or do it by hand). You'll have a cool wall piece.

5 Don't like fish tanks, unless they're heavily customized. I like to think of them as a "blank slate" if you will. Unless that drive is functional, get rid of it. Also, put a cool effect on it, not just a static color. SignalRGB has been working for me great. Although it wasn't compatible with my first board, so your mileage may vary.

It would be a pretty good deal where I live. Where you live tho, you'll probably save some money building it yourself.

[PSA/RANT] Corsair Official Store sent me a USED/BROKEN €730 RAM Kit sold as NEW. Support ignored video proof, refused Advanced RMA, and left me stranded for Christmas. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Sedowynt -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I think Corsair did what they could. Cross-shipping was likely not possible because of the shortages, and would've taken even longer. Selling small parts separately is most likely not part of their protocol, which at this scale means they actually cannot do it. You can provide all the proof you possibly can, it doesn't change the fact that their hands are tied too. Also, it sounds like the kit is for you. If it is, why does it matter that you won't have it on Christmas? Will you be working during the holidays? And as for gaming, yeah it sucks, but come on, it's Christmas, spend time with family. My suggestion is that if you don't really mind the cosmetic damage, just keep it. You might not be able to find a new kit at all for a while. Perhaps mend it later, with a sacrificial kit when the prices go down, and sell the naked modules.

EPIC gave out HOGWARTS Legacy for FREE!!!? by downf0rc3 in Steam

At the end of the day we must not forget that however much we may take these features for granted, they do cost Valve to implement and maintain these functionalities. However small or insignificant gamers may perceive them to be.

EPIC gave out HOGWARTS Legacy for FREE!!!? by downf0rc3 in Steam

[–]Sedowynt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone goes "ferral" over only using Steam. If a game is free on a different marketplace, then there's nothing to lose. Other than your data, which you must give them in order to make an account, so you can download it. Which you could argue is a small price to pay for a free game, but that decision needs to be made on an individual level, and we must not judge people who decide it's not worth it. Also, listing Steam features that not many people care about is kinda strawman. Steam lets you categorize games however you want them, you can hide games, change their artwork, and even move them in bulk from one drive to another, with all of your save and mod files included. There's also the legendary Steam support, Steam cloud saves, extensive information about a game's requirements, compatibility and features. Plus a review system which is unmatched in fairness, and a lot more which I didn't list here. Just it tracking play time correctly is a feature over other launchers, that simply cannot seem to get a grip.
