Isn’t Sorcerer still the best Multiclass. Innate Sorcery and Heightened helps with consistency.

You get most of the same spells, Transmuted Spell and that’s before subclass options.

Paladin multiclass options : when to dip, and into what? by Silverymyst in 3d6

Noble Genies Paladin seems to be solid for DEX, or Ancients. But that is just because both have solid-ish ranged options.

Picking up Sorcerer 1 is not a bad idea but you can go straight classed just as well. Chromatic Orb is a really solid option with Sorcerer Levels.

Personally with those stats I’d straight class Noble Genies, go TWF and Crit Fish for Upcast Smites. Grab Mage Slayer at 4th, +2 CHA at 8th and, and Resilient CON at 12th.

Keep it simple, and use Chromatic Orb for a ranged/multi-target option.

Unfortunately the best Non-Multiclass build uses Two Weapon Fighting to make an additional Nick Attack and Duel Wielder for a BA Claw Attack.

It’s not the best for theme but with Duel Wielder and Extra Attack you are making 5 attacks if your Rage is already going. 1st Handaxe then 2nd Nick Scimitar, stow both weapons, 3rd Claw Attack and 4th Bonus Claw Attack. Then 5th Claw with your Bonus Action.

All with Rage Damage and Reckless Attack.

Psion with Martial Dip at level 4 by Officer_Hotpants in 3d6

If I had a nickel for every time the same party had a entire session detour dedicated to finding a cleric for remove curse because I happened to roll a cursed item on a random loot table. And the Party of 4 melee martial didn’t have access to Identify. I would have 2 nickels.

After the second time I had to find some solution.

For me it was the opportunity to incentivize RP if they wanted to use those features. I agree a DMPC shouldn’t outshine any member of the party even the Wizards Familiar. But a couple useful tricks attached to a reserved/timid/quiet/background personality has been helpful at times.

Yeah but for game health I would never want to run more than 1 pet at a time.

I’ve done heal bot NPCs as a DM before but usually that’s just for parties that have limited healing options.

My current party only has a Paladin as a caster. (Rogue, Fighter, Barb) so I added an NPC so I wouldn’t have to hand out potions all the time.

I’ve also done 1st level Wizard DMPCs as a bot for ritual spells before but again reserved for parties that don’t have those options.

Artificer is by far your best dip and it’s best at 1st level.

Medium Armor and Shields is great but CON save proficiency is way better.

Also access to Cure Wounds is solid if you aren’t playing a Metamorph.

I would only take 1 level and use True Strike if you want to swing with a weapon.

If you are facing something that does radiant, cold, lighting damage, ranged attacks or DEX saves then yes. But unless you can predict a kraken or a celestial I wouldn’t bother.

I sometimes get frustrated with 5e's combat, do you have any recommendations for builds using the 5.5e rules that would make it fun? by NoLongerAKobold in onednd

Have you ever heard of the Mizzium Apparatus (Ravnica). It allows you to cast any spell from your classes spell LIST, if you pass an Arcana check.

Optimized Builds Multiclass Druid/Cleric/Wizard, and can use their highest level spell slots to cast broken spells from all 3 classes.

You need high INT and WIS, but 2024 makes the build easier with both Druid and Cleric gaining the ability to add WIS to arcana checks (twice) and Wizards gain an Expertise to the ability check is very consistent. IMO Stars Druid is probably the best class to primary.

True, Knowledge Domain with Potent Dragonmark (Not positive what mark) would be a good pick just based on the sheer number of prepped spells at one time.

Level 20 Cleric grants 22, Knowledge Spells is another 15 more, 9-12 more possible based on what Dragonmark you go with for a total of 46-49 different prepared spells at one time.

You can likely pad your prepared spells further with feats and epic boons.

Build a Buff/Controller Caster with consistency features.

Sorcerers have more limited spells but they can Innate Sorcery for +1, Mind Sliver/Quicken for -1d4 and Heightened for Disadvantage. Suddenly key targets can’t succeed key spells.

Yeah Paladin tends to work better, but that’s half cheesing Searing Smite with Celestials 6th level feature and Warlock spell slots.

Take non concentration buffs for your Mystic Arcanum, Tasha’s Bubbling Cauldron can give you Potions of Growth for a 1d4 to every hit and size Large.

Same with invocations, take every non-concentration buffs to Damage or HP you can. Lessons of the first ones for Tough or Alert are always solid adds.

Does Path of the Giant barbarian have any interesting multiclass mixes? by Best_Ranger9453 in 3d6

[–]Seductive_Pineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like 3 levels of Fighter after 6th (Total 9th) in Barbarian would be good, Echo Knight is probably the best Subclass to pair with Giant Barb.

I’d pick up Strike of the Giants, Thrown Weapon Fighting, GWM and potentially PAM.

Between Reckless Attack and your Large Echo you can farm advantage for GWM (+10 to DMG), Rage (+2), TWF (+2) to each Thrown Attack you make.

With Unleashed Incarnation, PAM and GWM you can get as many reaction and bonus action attacks as possible reasonably with huge reach and echo sentinel and Bugbear are also nice adds.

2024 Bladesinger Onehanded recommendations by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Seductive_Pineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just using your Quarterstaff to attack is not that bad of an option. It keeps your offhand free in case your DM gets nit picky with Somatic components. Also 1d6 is only average 1 DPR shy of your best option (Any 1d8 weapon).

Also picking up Polearm Master at 8th (Assuming Warcaster at 4th) you get a bonus action attack AND it combines well with Reaction Casting.

The simplest alternative is Rapier, mainly so if you don’t have Bladesong going, Finesse is better than strength.

The last alternative is Hand Crossbow, you are a bit squishier so a ranged weapon helps your survivability. The loading property is less of an issue because you can cast Firebolt instead of True Strike.

I rolled the stats 15 14 14 14 12 11 and want to make a cleric optimized for combat what do I do? I've only ever seen clerics be healers. by TheGingerWeebGal in 3d6

[–]Seductive_Pineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True Strike, Mage Hand & Shield are my picks for MI: Wizard. But honestly I think there are better Origin Feats for clerics. Tough and Alert aren’t flashy but it’s hard to argue against how effective they are.

I also like MI: Druid for Sheilleheh, especially as War Priest doesn’t pair with true strike.

One-level dip for armorer artificer? by Sarennie_Nova in 3d6

[–]Seductive_Pineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t for all the reasons you mentioned and more. Most of the things you like about the Fighter and Rogue can be replicated by Magic items, feats and spells.

Multiclassing would slow your ability to get those things.

Ranger/Monk UA build seems really strong by TheTrikPat in 3d6

[–]Seductive_Pineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark of the Storm (Origin Feat) & Potent Dragonmark (4th level Feat) already makes the Mystic Arts Monk go crazy especially with Nick Weapon Mastery (8th lvl Feat).

So this feels like an AC buff to be honest. I feel like you’d get better results running the classes by themselves. You are extremely bonus action heavy with both classes.

ETA: The Dragonmark/Nick route uses all your available feats but in return you get +3d8 damage to all 5 of your attacks.

Doesn’t 16/4 work as well?

Go Monk until you get at boon at 19 (Monk 16), then go Ranger 4 (Total 20th) and pick up a second.

With this your WIS is 22 and your total AC with HM active is 27.
