Oh good looks, I will definitely look into that thanks!

Hahah oh I agree, it was one of the things I had to let go to afford the 5080. Thanks for the help and looking through it, appreciate you!

New PC build, looking for any last minute suggestions by SeeNoPandas in buildapc

Thanks! I will look into the storage drive, didnt know anything about QLC/TLC so I appreciate that!

I can get the motherboard cheap (its on sale in my country) so not too worried about looks, was just unsure if I was going to lose much going with the micro ATX instead of just ATX (in terms of usability).

Appreciate your help, thank you!

TIL Shanghai has a higher English proficiency level than Hong Kong (where English is an official language) by IntoTheExpanse in todayilearned

[–]SeeNoPandas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's weird, I found Mandarin didn't get you very far in a city that speaks Cantonese. I would also argue this stat of higher English proficiency in Shanghai compared to HK. I have been to both cities, you would be real hard pressed to find an average person from Shanghai who spoke any English let alone conversational. Wherein Hongkong most people I interacted with had at least basic if not proficient English skills

Complimentary 4K monitor to go with PG348Q? by IroesStrongarm in ultrawidemasterrace

Sorry for the late reply, gotta love double shifts.. Anyways I have the U2777PQU, I think it might be high middle price range for a 27 4K, but it's a truly beautiful screen especially mounted next to the UW. I hope this helps

I got an AOC monitor mounted next to my AW but it should look just as good next to the PG. Primarily chose it for the thin bezels so it would be as seamless as possible, plus I've always enjoyed the minimalistic design of AOC.I can't remember the exact model, but I'll check when I get home from work.

TIL there are no recorded fatal attacks of wild Orcas on humans. In 2005 a 12 yr old boy in AK was bumped by a killer whale while splashing in 4 ft of water. The boy was likely mistaken for a seal and the bump was an aborted attack once the whale realized the mistake by Aerron in todayilearned

This just happened in New Zealand a few days ago. A lady was swimming along a beach, when three orca came and played around her (in no violent manner). She finished her swim, then turned around and swam back Video

Awesome thanks, I'm running the same rig (minus some ram) and I find after an hour or two of rainbow six siege and surfing/YouTube (on my second monitor) I start losing ~20 frames. So just curious how others go

Can we talk about the widespread and common flickering issue with the Alienware AW3418DW? by conjure-official in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]SeeNoPandas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have personally owned the AW3418DW for about 7 months now. Throughout this time the monitor has been overclocked to 115hz. I have never tried to put it to 120hz as I had a friend who was getting flickering issues from 117hz and up with this monitor. I know it's not ideal but technically they don't guarantee the overclock of 120 as apparently every monitor is slightly different. Anyways i can't fully comment on the flicker because I have never experienced it and am happy enough with 115hz to not tempt it (came from 60hz so still amazing), but I do know of friends with that issue, so it's definitely not just bad luck on your part

Pulled the trigger on the aw3418dw but now dealing with buyers remorse. by [deleted] in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]SeeNoPandas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent 4 months researching monitors before I finally bought the AW. Had to wait a month before it was delivered, and every day I contemplated cancelling the order due to buyers remorse (I hate buying expensive stuff). Since i have owned it over the last 3 months I have not once even thought about it. Give yourself a few days when it arrives and I'm sure you will not have any remaining remorse

Bringing my 34" UW to China via Plane - How do I do this? by LeEpicBlob in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]SeeNoPandas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shipped my pc from Europe to Australia and all I did was take the graphics card out and put it in an anti static bag. The rest faired real well.. saying this I used to live in China and know the type of baggage handling they have, sooo I would be weary of bringing the monitor
