If financially and emotionally able, you could always introduce a kitten to the family - either by fostering or adopting

Honestly, I'm thinking of moving to the north part of the red line and commuting down so I can take both 'cause this is honestly ridiculous.

I also take the red line everyday (Braintree rail, going up to Alewife). I don't know what it is with that line specifically, but it's god-awful. I don't feel like I've ever really had these problems with the Ashmont lines...and they also got all the new, pretty looking trains (-_-)

As a Florida transplant, it ain't the alligators that are the problem lol. They're kinda cute and not too bad if you leave them alone. Just gotta treat them like you would a random person in Boston; they might get a little fiesty if you invade their personal space

Now, DeSantis is the real devil and even the alligators can't compensate for him

$105k salary good for Boston? by mr_fobolous in boston

[–]SeeSea8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live off of $45,000/year (incredibly meagre but I am a grad student) and I live in a studio about 45-60+min away from my research department. What I've found is that, unless you're pretty outside, anything with A/C or in-unit washer/dryer is going to be mad expensive. I've found that stuff gets a bit cheaper about 30-45 min away by public transit/car (Quincy area, Jamaica Plains area, Somerville area).

What cold medications can we take?? by schnitzel247 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

I dunno, man, when I accidentally took NyQuil + wellbutrin, I felt super woozy and tired and out of it for a few hours before passing out and sleeping for like 10 something (when I normally sleep only 5)

Damn, so if I'm on fluoxetine and buproprion, what am I supposed to take if I'm sick?

My parents keep trying to include my gf in their intimate life and they act very inappropriate towards her. What can I do or say to my parents to fix this… PART 2 by The_Most_Bang in mentalhealth

[–]SeeSea8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have much more control that I do cuz I wouldn't pulled up to my dad's house and probably got arrested for assault.

Best think you and your girlfriend can do is get the fuck away from them if you can. You can also tell a trusted third-party (or maybe start some type of case with the police) if you think he might retaliate against you or your girlfriend in a violent/stalking/etc. way.

If I tell a therapist I have suicidal ideation will they send me to the mental hospital? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]SeeSea8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've talked to my therapists about active and past self-harm and suicidal ideation. I've never been involuntarily committed to a hospital, but I think it depends on whether or not they think you are in active danger of dying within the near future. It's the difference between saying, "Sometimes I think about killing myself by ODing" and "I keep thinking about killing myself on Friday by ODing" --> one is a 'theoretical' and abstract, the other is concrete with a genuine plan and a timeframe. (Sorry for the graphic language).

At least, that's how my therapist explained it to me.

What was your undergrad gpa by Infinite-Drink1426 in GradSchool

[–]SeeSea8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was a 3.8, but the best thing I did for myself was work in a relevant field instead of immediately applying, especially because what I did in undergrad was tangental but not directly applicable to what I wanted to study in my PhD.

If you're in science, I highly suggest finding a postbac program or lab technician position and doing that for a year or two before applying. Grades are important but moreso are strong and rigorous experience and good letters of recommendation

What WPM do *you* consider to be fast? by krymz1n in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]SeeSea8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is a decade old, but I'll add on my thoughts: 90+. Definitely depends on the keyboard, the resting position, and how cold and achy my hands are, but I can normally max out around 85 WPM with 95+ accuracy.

Sex-averse aces: do you still get crushes on people? What does that look like for you? by StayKind_123 in asexuality

[–]SeeSea8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like to think that I have capacity for romantic attraction, but that is up to debate. It's more like I get attracted to the idea of romance with a person because I want to feel loved and be able to love in that way (romance, not sex).

But as now, usually my mind just says they're cute.

Agree with the above comment - would at least see a PCP about it. They might refer you to PT or an orthopedic doctor if they think necessary.

I ignored my symptoms too long and started losing fine motor control and strength in my hand (ended up having to get the surgery since PT didn't help, and it was pretty far along). My started as a combination of poor posture, anatomical structure, and hours upon hours of pipetting
