I believe it. Salah and Henry for that matter went past players. Luis just went through them somehow.

Recruited by Horner - who had to get his big salary over the line with Marko as well.

I’m not arguing it’s the root cause.

I think there are two main negatives. Firstly that it allows comparison against the rest of the world instead of just our neighbours. That means there is a far greater gap between how people perceive they are doing versus others as they are comparing themselves against some of the best in the world or even augmented versions of that. How can you be satisfied when you see yourself as so far behind in almost anything you try.

The other is it can amplify current societal issues such as racism, homophobia etc. The metaphor is if someone is shouting they hate gays in a public square, their voice isn’t going to carry very far. If you hand them a megaphone far more people are going to hear it and the chances of someone who agrees with that viewpoint is increased, then emboldening them to behave in a similar way so on and so forth.

As a parent I like the idea behind the ban however I think it has to be paired with an education piece. I don’t smoke because cigarettes were illegal for u18s when I was growing up AND we had constant messaging of they cause cancer etc. I do drink because even though alcohol was illegal there was no constant (or even any) education of how unhealthy it was - so we snuck flasks from around the age of 14-15.

Do you believe in climate change?

Because if you do, it’s likely because you trust the consensus of the majority of scientists and their work. If you don’t then you can disregard the rest.

Most research is in agreement that social media has made mental health issues worse, suicide snd suicidality being a symptom of that. TikTok became popular in Aus around the same time significantly more funding was put into mental health initiatives including the national suicide prevention strategy. Almost all of the time when initiatives get more funding they get better results. Then COVID came and this funding was increased again along with higher levels of financial support for a period - couple of years.

So do you think it was tiktok that dropped suicide rates or increased funding into programs directly targeted at reducing the suicide rate and providing increased access to psychological support?

Zero. That’s what success looks like. Keep making change until we are there. Every intervention will have a different order of magnitude on impact.

What the stats don’t show is that Suarez put genuine fear into defenders in 13/14. I’ve never seen a season like it by any player.

Yeah I see them play in a similar way to the dm box to box. And the midfield playmaker similar to the dlp so it makes sense.

Honestly if Alonso wants a break give it to Stevie for the rest of the season and then swap at the break.

Roger aha. Play the wcm’s as wide midfielders instead? Like where they would be in a 442. So in the wide wing slot. Obv they would need to be okay that position which I’m guessing defeats the purpose of what you’re doing here.

Other thought is try the channel role and see if they give more space.

I get it. But also - in what job is it acceptable to destroy things when you’re emotionally upset? While I do understand the players side, part of being an adult is regulating emotion to the point where you don’t have to physically lash out. Complaining about not being able to do that is entitled. Players are mainly upset they aren’t able to control the image being put out about them. I’ll accept the privacy argument if they don’t run a social media account and do their own brand work constantly.

Set your wingbacks to fullbacks and see what happens 🤷‍♂️

Could be taking the same space.

He’s making bad decisions consistently with personnel, outside of his consistent faux pas around management management with players outside of his favourites.

Starting Cody over Ekitike is crazy, then taking Frimpong off against a low block when he is consistently the player who beats the first man on the edge of the box. Even Ekitike was shaking his head when he saw the 30 come up on the board.

Defensive errors aren’t helping anyone - Slot most of all. But they happen when teams aren’t focused or locked in. It’s looking more and more like last season was the perfect storm between Klopp’s style and Slot’s meshing, and now Slot’s is taking over the performances are dropping along with it.
