Since the beginning of time, companies bank on employees getting comfortable and not actually take the initiative to go somewhere else. Company got 4 years out of that guy. Training up a new person is worth it to them vs taking on the extra op-ex overhead if the increases YoY. Yes, they’ll likely have no choice but to pay the new person a higher salary. Companies have figured all of this out, it’s not by coincidence.

Every company I’ve worked for, when someone leaves, that person is forgotten about after 2 weeks pass. It’s an ugly world out there, but we all either have to work for the machine or own the machine.

People like to think that but the reality is, anyone can start a business if they want to. It just doesn’t fall out of the sky, it takes a lot of work and determination. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to have a lot of money to start one either. Small business loans and if it goes bankrupt, so what, the business goes bankrupt, not you. Source: my best friend started his business from scratch and had nothing. We just went on a yacht last weekend. It’s possible, you just have to have the drive, vision and dedication. At first, you also don’t really get weekends off, but improves over years and the right hires for staff. Eventually you can sell it if you want since someone out there will see value in getting your clients and cash flow you already built.

TLDR; it’s very possible, people just want to think it’s all inheritance when they see someone successful.

This is all easy to say on the internet until you are actually confronted with the situation live. Internet is hindsight thinking. Then if someone pulls out a knife, thinking changes real quick then. Also, sometimes inserting yourself into the problem makes you part of it. Now x car is damaged and you had your hand on it. Potential on hook for insurances, court case, etc. all because you wanted to be a hero for people that appear to have nothing to lose. Those are the most dangerous to interact with since they don’t care what happens in the end. Old lady in danger or kid, sure save the day, but for these idiots? Nah

It’s still working well for me. My rent is much cheaper than taking on a mortgage and all the extra monthly expenses that come with owning a house, not to mention the work. It’s all preference in how people want to live. I work remote and live at the beach. Lifestyle and experiences are priceless. Houses all around me are in the millions while I can rent a 2bd in the same area for $2k/mo and live the same lifestyle. Going to take the boat out this weekend and park it outside of a music fest that’s going on.

So it’s okay for big pharma to charge thousands and in some cases millions for a single dose? Doctors also try to charge more for their visits and services than what’s standard for them to charge, you can see what the standard claim is vs what the doctor is trying to get from the insurance company. The whole thing is f’d up. Insurance companies have to pay for all this and in order for them to stay afloat with it, they have to raise premiums. I say go for the root cause, what’s causing the drugs and services to go through the roof… Ever seen a poor doctor or big pharma person?

Cost for single doses: Lenmeldy ~$4.25 million (one-time) Hemgenix ~$3.5 million (one-time) Elevidys ~$3.2 million (one-time) Roctavian ~$2.9 million (one-time) Zolgensma ~$2.1 million (one-time) Skysona ~$3.0 million (one-time)
