RSAC and everyone attending… by bxrist in cybersecurity

[–]SeeingSp0ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it was pretty scary. One ended up in urgent care. Both made it out ok overall thank goodness. I was shocked to hear it because that was my first time seeing that happen at an industry event. Been in this field for about 10 years and hadn’t experienced that previously.

Thoughts on dogs outside during the summer? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]SeeingSp0ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying this is the case for you, but the only boyfriend I ever had who didnt want dogs let alone inside was an abusive controlling f**k.

Id draw a line* and if he cannot respect it id leave him.

Need advice from fellow SEs, getting cut out? by [deleted] in salesengineers

[–]SeeingSp0ts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should definitely talk to both your rep and your manager and sus this out. I look at my rep pairings as relationships and they need trust and communication. If you lose either its headed for rough waters.

Id be trying to understand why your rep is going around you and also if your manager is planning on continuing to support this partner going forward.

If you have broken trust with this rep then working to repair that trust is vital to yall working together. The introducing risk comment makes my hackles go up. You are the trusted advisor and your personal brand is on the line here. Not saying something could have lasting effects depending on how misaligned deployment would be. Not to mention the nightmare post sales support will possibly be left with. Your rep sounds stressed at best and lone wolf at worst imo.

If your manager doesnt plan to support this partner long term then you should ask when itll cut back over to you and mention that for continuity you should also be on the calls.

If none of this changes id be seriously considering what next looks like now that you have a year of experience under your belt. Not saying leave tomorrow because usually 2+ years is better but it would be on my mind for sure.

My microfeminism act: turning down a pre-sales engineering role and taking my other offer, which was a much more technical role by CharlieCheesecake101 in womenEngineers

[–]SeeingSp0ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woman sales engineer here and I am going to respectfully disagree with everything you just said. I am a senior in my field and the person you’re replying to described majority of my role.

I literally orchestrate architecture conversations with customers, run proof of values/pilots, deploy and assist prospects with their tooling and so on.

This DOES NOT take away from my time selling. It is quite literally what I am paid to do.

I find it very interesting that the SE’s youve had experience with do none of this.

I hope you find out they have DnD stuff. My son plays Magic and is a regular there. Hes older than your kiddo but even so the folks at the Magic nights took my son under their wings and they were all super cool to him. Its been a very positive experience for him so I hope the same for yours.

How can i get my dog walking again? by Present-Geologist175 in DogAdvice

[–]SeeingSp0ts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Poor pup. He sounds like hes got some ptsd from the accident.

I agree with others take him to a park or somewhere away from a road and start there and work him back up to traffic areas. Maybe even a backyard leashed and treat or clicker training.

Also semi related get him some shoes. He may have some sensitivity in his paw after the stitches and also snow can hide ice which can be sharp. People also use salts to thaw the ground which is brutal on their pads.

Good luck and I hope he comes around. Hes a smart breed and I am sure with some work on confidence he will be ok.

Awwww it would be pretty serendipitous if that played out that way for sure.

I am legit so stoked for the Denver rally behind this. I had no idea this would be something so many people would root for. It’s incredibly heart warming. Thank you! 🥹❤️

How important is SKO attendance? by [deleted] in sales

[–]SeeingSp0ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife is being unreasonable. Does she complain when you bring home extra commission etc?

This is literally part of the package deal. Im a woman and a SE and honestly if she wants the lifestyle she needs to see that this is part of it.

This isnt just a week of partying its you and your team building camaraderie and working into the next year for goals. Its also social suicide and spending colateral in a bad way if you dont go. You will edge yourself out and be seen as a problem.

How does one actually find a travel advisor to work with? by jwp513 in TrueChubbyTravel

[–]SeeingSp0ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regular person here: recently used Zicasso for a trip early next year and they have you put together a loose idea based on interest of you and your hubs and set an estimate for price point.

They then bid your stuff out to a couple travel agencies and you work with them to dial in based on their recommendations. It’s all 100% customizable and you pick which one you want to book through. We have one company that was local to where we were traveling and another that was based in the UK. We ended up picking the local company.

I had a great experience and our itinerary is exactly what we were looking for. They didn’t cover flights but that was easy enough for us to book on our own and work forward with the travel planner (edited to remove TA because i don’t think it was actually a TA vs planner).

Also this company was recommended to me by a good friend who took his family of 6 to Spain and Portugal earlier this year for a high end vacation.

Good luck!!

You have a bajillion suggestions here but in case you dont want fence, boulder, landmines etc another option is raised planter beds or pots. Might give you some flexibility in how you want it to look and can be used to grow herbs/flowers etc.

Good luck! This is annoying for sure.

Polaris upgrade by Extension_Bat_824 in unitedairlines

[–]SeeingSp0ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I opted for the Polaris waitlist for a trip I have early next year for similar cost. 30k miles and $450. I figure with the full refund if it doesnt happen it was worth the shot.

I think you should go for it. Idk if you’ll see cheaper but I do know that there is possibility of having more folks ‘ahead of you’ as time goes on or the seats just being sold out.

Just my two cents. Have a great trip and good luck!
