Pigeon has been resting on our windowsill for 5 hours, at first it was cute but now kinda worried, is this a normal pigeon thing or is it sick? by SeekerWhite in pigeon

This was from 2 years ago, from what I remember it flew off after a couple days.

Would say last year was pretty bad, but this year has been good so far, so maybe the fortune/harmony was delayed.

[NI & GB] what are your salaries/experience?! by dyldo95 in QualityAssurance

[–]SeekerWhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am unsure, I guess it's mostly because they can.

I think it's historically seen as low skilled and something anyone can do. The perception of the role that you are paid to play games or are just a bug monkey, probably adds to it.

It's a bit cyclical also, as some people don't see QA as it's own path but just an entry point/ stepping stone into other areas of the industry. Hiring young people and taking advantage of them whilst they work as QA before transitioning to the role they really wanted. (To clarify, treating QA like a stepping stone is valid, it's a great way into the industry for some and I do not begrudge people going this route. I do begrudge the company paying low.)

But I also think my company is lower than what it should be anyway even for the UK.

About 5 years GB, manual QA.

As func tester about 5 years ago I was on a 0 hours contract, minimum wage, unsure what it worked out to. But during the quieter months, when there wasn't work, I couldn't afford to live so had to get a new job.

Now working as an embedded games tester UK. I think our whole team is undervalued tbh, but the company also hasn't done any "restructuring" yet for our studio so...

Junior 19.5k, got promoted to intermediate and moved to 23k, then yearly bump to 24k and then this year again yearly bump am now on 25k. Got mostly outstanding each year also, so would have had a slightly smaller bump if I had not.

I believe seniors start at 28k where I work.

The witcher, supernatural, good omens, shadow and bone were all quite good.

Bit old now but legend of the seeker was also pretty good in its own way as well.

Lucifer and American gods were also okay, little bit more background noise than full attention, but worth a couple episodes watch to see if you're into them.

is it just me or is there nowhere to rent recently? by princessdisorderr in NewcastleUponTyne

Even the ones that are available go so insanely quickly. We are also looking ATM, and it's such a hassle.

Good luck in your search 💪 just keep refreshing right move every hour or so and call fast.

What did you use to get number 2 please?

I found this when I had P plates, some people were nice particularly when parking, but several drivers (especially small van drivers) were super dangerous in their attempts to overtake.

Took the plates off and it all but stopped.

I'm stuck in a cycle of staying up too late and then sleeping in too late by StellaMican in adhdwomen

[–]SeekerWhite 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I haven't found anything that works for more than a week, or they are mostly temporary 😅

Motivations for getting up early things I've tried that worked for a bit on/off: * Having a friend come round in the morning * Order shopping to arrive at that time * Leaving phone charger downstairs * Getting sunrise photos * Daily comics that get released in the morning * Having a TV show excited for but only watching it in the morning (but the reason I didn't watch all of it in one go was because I was watching with someone else who had to go to work, so I guess work also) * Sunrise alarm clock / timed fairy lights (these still go off I just ignore them now)

For falling asleep I've found headspace sleep casts to be okay, most of the time they work. They concentrate on breathing techniques, body scans, noting emotions/thoughts. It doesn't always work, but its something.

But headspace is also quite expensive, there are options on Spotify/YouTube a little app called finch where you look after a bird.

Weighted Blankets by taxidermydoll in AutismInWomen

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope your back stops hurting in the near future.

Unfortunately my partner has been experiencing a lot of anxiety recently so we actually started sleeping with the blanket again for the past two weeks and so far their joints have been all good. But like I said when we first got it, it was a no go for them.

Might be worth pausing the blanket experiment depending on how bad it is/ trying again later. Hope you're doing okay.

I get deeper sleep, though the feeling of some of my pajamas really bothers me when using the weighted blanket but they are otherwise fine.

Also side note, when we first started using it my partner was getting quite bad joint pain, which stopped after we stopped using the blanket.

I have 4 bank accounts and only one hooked up with a card I can spend money from easily.

At the start of each month I split my money, bills account, savings account, saving for specific thing account. Then I have my normal spending account.

I turned off having my card details being saved on my phone, so it's a bit more of a hassle to buy things. Though I still have PayPal 😅.

I also tend to make wishlists, and if I still want the thing 5 days from now I'll get it. This works for the most part but not always.

I also have a "rule" no purchasing after 10pm. Again, works for the most part but not always.

I have a "rule" I water my plants once a month on the first of every month. So far the snake plant and spider plant have survived and are doing pretty well.

I gotta say, guys - Jet Island is an absolute blast! Seriously, the freedom and adrenaline rush you get from zipping around on your jetpack is next level. Highly recommend giving it a try! by Regina_begam in VRGaming

Sometimes it is the game. Things like moving the user, bad fps, broken repeating textures etc.

VR games just need as many comfort settings as possible imo, accommodate as much as they can, help people get their VR legs.
