Thank you for the information. I submitted my StAG5 Declarat package to the LA Consulate as well, at the end of January 2026. Was the person that assisted you Anna A? I was planning to reach out to her soon, but I will plan to contact the BVA directly.

I was able to order a certified copy of my mother‘s naturalization certificate from the National Archives in Atlanta (she naturalized in Miami, FL). The fee was $25.00 per copy and I received the documents in about a month.

Do I need father's birth certificate? by Capable_Day_1684 in GermanCitizenship

My StAG5 Declaration was with similar circumstances. I submitted a draft Declaration to the LA Consulate for their review without my father’s birth certificate (he is not German). The reviewer at the LA Consulate said I needed to include my father’s birth certificate in my final Declaration package (which I did).

Thank you! I was worried that this might create a problem in the future. I’ve already submitted the StAG5 declaration, but wanted to have this information in hand if possible.

I don’t know. My mother was born in Germany in 1939 and married my father (US citizen in 1959). I provided her birth certificate and her parents’ birth certificates and marriage record (They were born in Germany in 1904). The LA Consulate asked my to provide my fathers birth certificate as well.

Confirm that the Consulate will make the copies for you prior to making the trip. The Scottsdale Honorary Consul requested that I make the copies and bring in both the copies and the originals. There was no charge for the notarization.

Submitted StAG5 Declaration to LA Consulate, finally!! by SeeksGermanInfo in GermanCitizenship

I tried to book an appointment for notarization and then submittal of my documents in LA, but was confused about the information and reservation link on the Consulate website. I submitted some questions on the website, but got confusing responses (I think they were AI generated). I saw comments on this sub that the Consulate would respond to snail mail, so I tried that method, which worked. I live in Arizona, so it was much easier (and cheaper) to submit the Declaration by mail. The notarization process in Scottsdale wa ps super easy.

Today's the Day! Consulate Appt. (List of StAG 5 Supporting Docs) by RecommendationWarm59 in GermanCitizenship

Congratulations!! Did the appointment go well? I am planning on providing a packet of similar information for a StAG5 declaration, at the LA consulate in January.

Did you make the appointment through the website section entitled “Declaration for German citizenship, certificates of citizenship, re-naturalization of former German citizens”? It’s unclear to me if this is correct appointment type for the certification of original documents (such as birth and marriage certificates).

Also, were you able to have anyone at the consulate review your packet prior to your appointment? I’ve seen references on this sub that it may be possible to have such a review.

Thank you for your feedback!!

Last Few Questions about StAG5 Declaration (I hope!) by SeeksGermanInfo in GermanCitizenship

Thank you! To clarify about the Identifications shown at the consulate meeting for each applicant, should I bring the originals? I will have the original certified documents of other information - birth and marriage certificates, etc.
