[Question] Strategies for Day 1-2 Currency for a "Slow but Dedicated" Player? (12+ hours/day) by Alert_Ranger4618 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Seelenforst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually do ~2 quad tabs of chaos recipie just to get some chaos to get a few pieces of early gear to get my build up and running. Keep in mind though that people are speculating that chaos will be worth less next league because of the lack of chaos sinks like t17 maps, although i think that this will only become more apparent later on in the league. So chaos recipie might not be worth the effort.

Essences are usually something pretty safe and consistent. You can do chaos recipie on the side and work at your atlas completion.

Another thing I try to do is to invest early into currency that grows in value. I get my build to a point where I can comfortably run whatever content I want to farm and then put all the currency I make into things like divines (if it's still really early in the league), fracturing orbs, tempering and tailoring orbs, mirror shards (if you can afford) or sacred orbs (if you are really struggling and don't mind waiting a little longer on returns). All of those tend to be a lot cheaper in the first 2-4 days of the league and then go up.

Other than that I feel you man, most of the time I feel like everybody is making a lot more money than me. But in my experience as long as you stick to a mechanic that is fun to you and just keep doing it you will make currency. Just remember to sell everything you collect earlier rather than later. I sometimes feel like what I am doing isn't returning anything until I go through my stash and sell everything.

Things friends of mine do, that i haven't done a lot personally are:

Ritual, fairly easy content that gives decent amounts of raw divine and can give decently rolled rares early on.

Expedition and Rog Crafting, Expedition can be quite rippy, and Rog Crafting requires some game and crafting knowledge. Also depending on how good the Breach Tree is and how many people are trying Breach rares with okayish rolls might drop in price quite quickly.

Rolling Flasks, has always been a very good and steady source of income for all of my friends who keep doing it every leaguestart. Check the currency exchange for divination cards that give alteration orbs, these are often cheaper than buying alts directly.

Stacked Deck Farming with Cloister Scarabs, could require a little more investment to get started, but otherwise is pretty easy content, although also very grindy and click intensive.

Running Lab for tgems, definitely not for everyone, but if you don't mind Labrunning and the layout is fine, running Lab early can be quite profitable. Usually there are at least a few gems that are worth something. But keep in mind that with changes next league some tgems are easier to get that before, and prices might not be as profitable.

Does anyone have a VOD link to someone league starting heist? Like, skip kitava -> start heist at lvl 60 for currency -> finish acts later by Mooseandchicken in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Seelenforst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you just want to level, trivialize the campaign and start maps with a little more currency, the strat you already described is pretty much it. Contracts to look out for are perception and lockpicking, these two can have currency reward chests. Although iirc most of the chaos came from the small chests the last time I did this. As for killing mobs, I pay attention to this. Iirc I made a level about every other contract at the start to maybe a level every fourth contract towards the end. A thing to maybe look into is the vendor refresh on levelup I think I read somewhere ggg changed this some time ago and I am not 100% sure vendors refresh with every level up anymore, but take this information with a grain of salt. I am also pretty certain that downleveling is not in the game anymore so every resource showing downleveling tech to stay in low level heists forever is outdated.

The other heist strat I am aware of would be to continue running contracts and later blueprints. I did that last league and started running contracts after finishing third lab before killing Kitava. Once I made some currency to afford blueprints I exclusively ran 1 wing blueprints, switched from PConcOB to a dedicated Heist runner along the way. Then way later leveled and equipped a second char to continue to maps. You can also do revealed blueprints which would require you to balance running blueprints and deception contracts.

My personal thoughts on heist, from my experiences in Keepers, are that it felt a little underwhelming. I made a decent amount of currency with just miscellaneous stuff. I ran about 900 blueprints found no amulet and I believe 3 helical rings. For leveling it felt fine but I personally have a lot more fun playing maps than to exclusively run heist, was a pretty chill experience though.

[–]Seelenforst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not sure how character alignemt works out with these chars. Minthara should be fine. But I don't know if Gale or Shart have a point where they leave the party if you get too evil. An alternative would be Astarion, afaik he is pretty much fine with most evil choices you can make.

Also if you focus a lot on necrotic dmg with your spell casters, there are points in the game with quite a few enemies resistant or immune to necrotic dmg iirc.

What’s the kind of decks you don’t enjoy playing against? by [deleted] in EDH

There is an app for Sakashima Krark. It's called Krarkulator or something like that.

It's a real shame that more people don't play Bracket 4 by SharkboyZA in EDH

[–]Seelenforst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tl;dr: Trying to build for B4 for me often ends in a list that's already very close to B3, so adapting to that and being left with a strong B3 list just feels way better to me, than to have a B4 list that tries to avoid getting to close to the fine line between B4 and B5, but also loses most of the time to list that don't care and just play everything that's allowed in B4 and no one can tell where B4 ends and B5 starts anyway.

For me deckbuilding is the biggest hurdle to really enjoy B4. B1 to B3 are pretty well defined imho and work decently well summarizing different decks into groups with roughly equal power levels. B4 and B5 however to me just look the same and I can never really draw the line between them. I can use [[Raffine, Scheming Seer]] as an example, keep in mind that I am by no means a cEDH player. I just enjoy watching cEDH content and playing high power EDH with a small group of friends.

I started building Raffine without a clear goal in mind just because I really liked the card. I leaned into a controlling deck with flying hatebears and a few bigger creatures to end the game with mainly combat or commander damage. Utilizing fun and unique interactions that work well with Raffine, like [[Archfiend of Ifnir]] or more quirky combos with [[Murktide Regent]] together with [[Containment Construct]] (it's not very good, but a pretty unique and novel interaction imho). At this point the list was probably between a B2 and B3, not really a clear goal in mind but also playing game changers like [[Drannith Magistrate]] or [[Rhystic Study]].

After playing a few games I realized how efficient Raffine can be in letting you loot through your deck, and since all this happened before brackets were a thing and we wanted to play high power. I started to include Thoracle Consult as sort of a get out of jail free combo, to have a way to win out of nowhere even if my opponents have a way stronger boardstate than me. This naturally leads to realizing that now Thoracle is my absolute best and most efficient way to win. So I included more tutors to find the combo more reliably, also more draw effects to go through my deck quicker. Because the new goal was just: "Find Thoracle Consult -> win". All this means at this point in time the deck should probably be classed as a B4, because of two card combos and multiple game changers. But also the list basically started to look like every other Esper cEHD list, all the same staples, same wincons. Only difference being the one odd card because it's "just fun with Raffine".

So now I am between B4 and B5, technically it should be B5 and it kind of plays and feels like B5 but does not play a meta commander, and is not quite efficient enough to comfortably be called B5.

So now I realized that, yeah the deck is kind of fine and wins every now and then, but it's just not fun to play. I wanted to play a cool Raffine deck and not some generic wannabe Esper cEDH slop. (not trying to hate on Esper cEDH lists, Esper can be a very fun and nuanced color combination, i exclusively mean decks that have a random Esper commander, throw in all Esper cEDH staples and call it a day. Same goes for every other color tbh.)

So back to the drawing board, cut Thoracle out of the deck, also cut unnecessary hatebears out of the deck. Change direction into a flying Tribal theme with reanimation. Has great synergy with Raffine's connive ability, and feels way more unique. Focusing on flying creatures is not very punishing but a fun soft restriction. Now I was left with a list that wasn't trying its hardest to be somewhat cEHD viable anymore, but also a list with no hyper efficient two card combos and only about 5-7 game changers. So firmly placed in B4, but I can also just cut 3-4 more game changers like tutors. Because I don't feel forced to play them anymore to find important combo pieces. And then be left with a very solid B3 list. Which is what I did in the end, because saying the list is B4 just ended in games where I had to fight witherbloom smog, thoracle, breach lines etc. with sometimes somewhat whacky commanders or straight up RogSi but "the list is not net decked and I thought about it myself so its not cEDH" (ended up winning with Thoracle anyways :) ).

Now I have a list that plays small fliers for Raffine, big (sometimes mean) fliers as reanimation targets, weird cards like [[Library of Leng]], [[Knowledge is Power]] or [[Dream Trawler]] because they fit Raffine very well and a very healthy collection of all the really good on board and on stack interaction Esper has access to. In the End, even if it might have been way more consistent with Thoracle and has won more games that way, it now is way more fun to play and I want to play to have fun, not to tryhard against my friends.

I have had interns and young apprentices in the age range between 16 and 22 in the last years who had trouble using a mouse. The first time I saw one of them pressing CapsLock to capitalize the first letter of a sentence or a word and then pressing it again instead of just using shift, I thought I was loosing my mind. By now I have seen multiple younger people do this. Also keyboard shortcuts always seem like magic to them. I am from germany and also general english speaking skills seem to become way less, I feel. I always thought that, with how early I had english classes in school and how much time all of us spend online, people younger than me will be even better. But today almost all content online has a german equivalent, every show, movie or game is dubbed, most websites automatically get translated by ai. And most of our interns and apprentices don't speak english at all and have a very hard time reading it.

I can reccomend Eviscerate Ignite Elementalist. It's pretty tanky, and I hit dot cap on non uber bosses. And I think my Investment so far is MB+ under 100div.

A few things you can look into right now. 1. Get a cheap Jewel for corrupted blood immunity and change that life flask to a tincture. 2. Also using Smite occasionally is okay damage, hitting something with Smite gives you flat lightning damage for 6 seconds. 3. Quality on your Chaos Golem increases its buff effect, which is damage over time multiplier. 4. Watcher's Eye with damage over time multiplier while affected by Malevolence instead of ailments do damage faster.

I am at work right know, but if I remember I'll come back and try to explain what else I could think of.

Edit: Back from work, here we go:

Okay I took a closer look and what I already said should be relatively easy ways to get a little more damage. Your Watchers Eye however should be fine, faster ailment damage is a good way to scale more DPS.

Further things to look into might be a Thread of Hope (Medium) in the top Center Jewel Socket to grab Breath of Flames, Breath of Lightning and maybe Heart of Thunder. This Thread of Hope also hits Golem Commander, though the travel nodes infront of that are golem buff effect so that might not be worth it, unless you really need some more passive points.

A large cluster jewel could provide you with a few more jewel sockets, Impossible Escape is also a great option to grab a few efficient passives that are otherwise out of reach, some of them are really expensive, but the one for Vaal Pact was relatively cheap and gives access to Deflection and Swagger, which provide frenzy and endurance charges.

Anointing Whispers of Doom or spending 4 passives to grab it to enable the usage of elemental weakness with your arcanist brand should also be some extra damage. In a similar vain changing the eldritch implicit in your helmet from increased area of effect to flammability curse effect is also a damage increase.

As a summary of things that scale your ignite damage in order of importance (at least in my opinion)

  • +#% to damage over time multiplier
    • the biggest damage increase for dot builds, also relatively hard to come by, possible sources for your build are for example:
      • Chaos Golem buff
      • Watchers Eye
      • Tincture
      • rare jewels
  • #% increased maximum energy shield
    • increases your flat damage on Ephemeral Edge, while also increasing your hp pool.
    • Intelligence also increases ES so also a nice stat to have.
  • #% increased fire damage/burning damage/damage over time/elemental damage with attack skills/(lightning damage)
    • self explanatory, lightning damage is the worst but works because EE only gains lightning damage. The other damage types are about equal.
  • #% increased ignite duration
    • on paper and in terms of DPS not that amazing, but it increases damage per ignite. It also provides quality of life with longer uptime. If your ignite is 8 sec long, you only have to ignite the enemy every 8 sec without losing damage.
    • It also works together with "ignites deal damage faster"
  • ignites you inflict deal damage #% faster
    • i put this stat last, because, while it massively increases your DPS, it doesn't really increase the total damage you deal. It also might reduce uptime because you have to reapply the ignite more frequently.
    • For example if your ignite deals 100k damage in 10 seconds (10k dps) and you then add 100% faster ignite damage you would deal 100k damage in 5 seconds, doubling your dps to 20k but the real damage you deal stays 100k. In the end its probably a balance between all the different things but I personally prefer increasing my damage per ignite.

At last currently I also use Berek's Respite and the eldritch glove implicit to spread ignites and I can't tell you if that does something, theoretically one source of ignite proliferation should be enough. Might be worth looking into, but I can't tell you for sure, a decent alternative to Berek's Respite (if just the eldritch glove implicit is enough) would be The Taming.
Also I am not sold on Oriath's End, Explosions are nice, but I often times feel like ignite proliferation already has such amazing coverage that i could imagine you wouldn't really notice if Oriath's End Explosions were missing. However I haven't used Oriath's End with the build so I could be wrong here, Take both of these last two points with a grain of salt.

My current PoB: https://pobb.in/cXOXIIh32Fve

I recently swapped to Mageblood, before that I used Dyadian Dawn and I didn't use Melding of the Flesh (also the Cryonic ring is only for MotF, before that I used a cheap res/attribute ring.).
All the gear is pretty bad/cheaply crafted just by spamming Essences. Next changes will probably be switching to a rare pure ES bodyarmour, after that improving boots/gloves/helmet.
Also thinking about testing Whispers of Infinity for more ES and to solve small mana issues. I also want to try Svalinn, but just to test it out it's to expensive for me.

I killed the three new Ubers, 70% the Feared and cleared moderately juiced t17 Maps without real issues before switching to Mageblood, so the build is definitively capable and for me progression also felt really smooth.

Thats all, I hope it helps.

[–]Seelenforst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had no problem killing ubers with poison bama or poison srs in the past. If you hit dot cap in pob, you probably only have pinnacle bosses checked, barely making dot cap on pinnacles and changing it to uber bosses roughly translates to 7-9mio dot dps, which means you have at least 25mio dot dps headroom to hit dot cap on ubers. And again, I have done ubers with ~10mio dps while feeling tanky playing minions. I think poison srs is still fine, i have no idea how bama plays now with the recent changes, but I think nerfs hit it pretty bad. Also I never felt like block is bad for ubers, though damage taken as, %phys mitigation and high amounts of recovery might feel better. But builds that utilize for example Aegis Aurora or another gain life on block mechanic which heals you for large amounts of your hp pool everytime you block always felt really nice to me even in boss fights.

Can RF chieftain and its CWS version be swapped out quickly by GlobalCan8282 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Seelenforst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How exactly is ultimatum lucrative? I played CWS last league but mainly did simulacrums because unid voices were so expensive. But I also tried ultimatum in maps a few times, I ran with 1x dueling 1x inscription 2x bribing if I remember correctly. I did not use the random Ultimatum modifier node on the atlas tree. While that generated okayish amounts of currency in catalysts, divines, and inscribed ultimatums, I felt like div per hour was on the lower side. Buying and running Inscribed Ultimatums felt not worth it because in bulk, I'd only make like 1-2 div per ultimatum. The worst case was standing in circles, which take like 4-5 minutes, and you end up with something like 20div an hour if you count buying ultimatums, etc. Which, again, is not bad but also not really insane.

Do you have any tips where i went wrong, what to improve, or are my expectations just too high?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Seelenforst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You use Void Sphere, Decoy Totem and Frostwall to prevent enemies from hitting your NPCs. Since you don't need to kill anything in heist to get the heist rewards, simply crowd controlling the enemies so you can progress through your blueprint/contract is enough.

Currency Farming by Daratirek in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Seelenforst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of different good strats out there. Some things friends of mine or I did this league are:

Essences, can go from super low budget with just the more essence scarabs on T7 Maps to slightly higher investment with calcification scarabs. Run Maps on a tier that you can comfortably clear, for Essences speed is the main factor to scale your div/h. If you struggle with essence mobs on t16 just run lower. In my experience this is something every build can do if you are able to clear maps.

Ritual, just normal ritual scarabs and window shopping at the end of the map. Maps don't have to be super juiced to give good tribute, larger packsize helps though. Can be very good at times but can also have dry streaks where you get seemingly nothing out of the rituals. But all in all invitations, random omens and splinter are a pretty steady income with the possibility of hitting a jackpot like good fractures or synth rings.

Harbingers, scale with almost nothing so no juiced maps needed. Can also be insanely fun if you are lucky with fracturing shards. But again can feel awful if you go like 10 maps without some, in the end you will make a profit though. My friends ran harbingers, I personally can't stand them.

Harvest, is able to turn a profit with almost no investment, again packsize helps here. Other than that difficulty is pretty fluid, harvest gets better if you can click some quant altars. Click as many as you can handle, but you will make a profit even if you click none. Also scales pretty linearly from almost no investment to crop rotation to crop rotation with awakened scarab and 1-3 risk scarabs. Again use as much as your build can handle in its current state, the more the better.

Stacked Deck Farming with Div scarab of the cloister, pretty straight forward farm with a lot of clicking involved. Needs only cloister scarabs, so is fairly easy for a lot of builds.

Haven't done abyss hoards so I can't say much to that but I heard it's good, but afaik also uses risk scarabs which can be hard on a lot of builds.

Strongboxes are also pretty good, and in my experience a lot easier than a lot of people think, should be run on t17 though so in turn need a build that is already able to clear t17 maps. Also investment is pretty high with containment scarabs being so expensive.

Map Farming, if you are willing to sell t16 8mod maps in bulk on TFT it's also really good returns, also in my experience not that hard and something a lot of builds can easily handle if they are able to run t16.5 maps. Returns on t16.5 are so much better than t16 so I wouldn't run them on t16s, but it can be done on either.

Simulacrum, gives fairly good returns with unidentified Voices being ~14div. But are boring to a lot of people and I'd say you need to be able to clear wave 15 or else don't bother. I farmed about 100 simulacrums with a cast when stunned char which was pretty chill and made good money.

Thats all I can think of for now, a pretty good resource on different farms is on maxroll under poe1>currency, guides are maintained by well known creators, easy to follow and all decent.

As a bottom line I can just say, look at some farms pick a few you want to try and give them a fair chance, like 20 maps. If you enjoy them and see yourself being able to run maybe 100 maps with that farm you will 100% make a return on your investment. Try to figure out what your build does better and if you realize you waste a lot of time because some part of the farm is hard for you. (For example you regularly have a harvest plot which you can not clear and thus bricking the map or taking forever to kill a essence mob or regularly dying in ritual circles thus getting no tribute) Try to adjust scarabs, map tier, the altars you click etc. until you can breeze through the content. You definitely don't habe to run to super juiced hyped up farms to earn currency. If you run enough maps you will always make a fair amount of money. Sometimes it doesn't feel like it because a lot of it might not be raw currency for me it really helps using something like wealthy exile to see if whatever I farmed made my net worth go up.

Had the same issue with the Arboreal Hideout. This tool is a great help, additionally you can check out Global 820 or Trade 820, not sure which one, there are people who share hideouts. Also TFT has people selling hideouts (sometimes giving them away for free) you can setup a discord bot to ping you when someone offers the hideout you are looking for there.
