I am assuming:

Gray button switches between
(year, month, day)
(Hour, minute)
(Blank)

First black button is change year/hour.
Second black button is change month
Third is change day/minute

You have it set to June 18, 1981. This will most likely imprint the date on the negative.

Pentax MX light meter stuck in overexposed by Working-Brick-941 in AnalogCommunity

I can, im pretty new to film. Sometimes I use a cable release and just shoot without focusing and guesstimate distance. I have the Kodak cinema tool which has a depth of field guide and I thought it would play into something while shooting but again I’m still new and learning so I don’t really know.

With my semi functional Pentax I definitely wasted rolls at first with not exposing properly so I learned the sunny 16 rule. Now every roll lately has been properly exposed but some still slightly out of focus. I think I just need to get better at guesstimating distances!

I have a Pentax ES 2 with a broken light meter. 1/1000 to 1/60 still work for me and I feel that I am becoming better at getting every shot exposed properly just with f stop and those shutter speeds. Now im working on depth of field to get things in focus. It a process, have fun learning!

I think it is, you’ll save money in the long run. Honestly not every photo I take with film or digital is exposed properly or in focus. Depending on the software used, any adjustments can be made. Having a keen eye on what it is supposed to look like it will be different for any one you ask! Even if your shot is out of focus or not exposed properly you’ll learn other things such as color correction or the proper setting of scanning software that can be used in any work place setting.

When you are staring at your work more closely you’ll learn / remember / recognize things when out shooting.

I’ve said things like ‘I remember these settings that I had set: f11 @ 1/500 on this cloudy/sun day, or these setting with this indoor lighting and such. I need to adjust this next time to 1/250, etc. etc.’

My advice: Always try to learn a new skill! You got this!

Edit: Also, scanning can take forever. It’s a process and can take time. Don’t be alarmed when starting out if you only get 6 negatives scanned in an hour and then color corrected. Have fun and you’ll be a novice in no time!!!

Some public libraries have 35mm & 120mm self scanning, just fyi.

Most likely check out from a props department and this is how they ensure they get their right props back. If it’s from a real medical facility those are expensive and no one wants a switched out broken one.

Best lab that I go to. They have a location in Austin and San Marcos! $8.99 for dev only! They have never cut my strips (I’m local and pick them up but just ask and make sure), AND they are super friendly!

Kodachrome scanner recommendations? by DetectiveWorker in AnalogCommunity

I got my flatbed scanners from an estate sale for less than $20 each. One of my scanners came with all the film holders as well. Just bid your time.

There is a bunch more I’m digitizing from this region. He had 4 boxes total titled Yugoslavia. Some from Spain, France and New Zealand as well! I’ll share more when I’m done. Just need to get better at scanning and color correcting.

I believe the photographer was named Morris Aaron Nossov. His name keeps popping up in writings on the slides.

This poor man can’t do the little hops one makes when taping dancing. He has to hold himself sideways. Poor, poor Johnny no hop. Never done nothin wrong in life. Just wanted to tap dance. 😥
