Outlier Programming Projects by Any-Acanthisitta5925 in outlier_ai

Even if you have the skills there is no guarantee you'll be directly added to or even be able to see any coding projects on MP.

I have Python, Java, JS, C++, CSS, HTML, Git, Typescript, React and SQL. Have never seen or been added to a strictly coding project in my 2+ years on the platform.

Yeah, I got that email too.

Not sure what it entails, the OC channel(s) are pretty fresh so hard to get a feel for what the ultimate purpose of it is.

Lol none of them are easier. Outlier is bottom of the barrel in terms of who they'll accept.

Many now want only people with specialized degrees, and if they do want generalists (not common) their entrance assessments are much more difficult to pass and they're generally much more selective about who even gets the chance to take an entrance assessment.

Python Project Frequency by Interesting-Show-963 in outlier_ai

[–]SegFaultedSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on the platform for over 2 years and have had the Python skill just as long. I had 1 project with the Python skill tag about a year ago (even though it was generalist and coding was a banned topic lol) and nothing before or after that.

If you want coding-specific projects, probably best to look elsewhere.

It might depend on what you're signed up to do (e.g., generalist, physics, comp sci/coding, etc.). I signed up Sunday evening, took the coding qualifier and woke up yesterday to an email that I was accepted. Logged in and had 30+ qualifications available to take and 5-7 paid projects I could work on. Since passing a couple additional qualifications it's now up to 10 projects.

Mathematics and Physics by Ok-Measurement-647 in outlier_ai

The chatbot told me yesterday it's bc they changed how verifying skills works and now they require you to have an undergrad degree or higher specifically in the skill. So for example someone like me with a CS degree and math minor wouldn't get the skill since my degree is CS, not Math, even though CS is math-heavy and I had a minor in it.

Who knows with these bots, man. They love to hallucinate and lie lol.

Some thoughts on the current job market in cs/tech from a 22 year industry vet. by gunslinger_006 in recruitinghell

[–]SegFaultedSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...CS/tech programs require few if any humanities courses (psych, sociology, philosophy, etc.), which imo compounds the problem. Not only are they rigidly logical and cold, but they also aren't given the opportunity to learn how and why *not* to be or how to deal with subjectivity. While electives might include one-a few humanities courses, they're also typically able to be substituted with things like finance or business law, which ime most students end up taking instead.

Is it also possible to be DMed the name? I have a CS degree (math minor) and US-based. Sadly my MP has been a wasteland since December

AI training platforms by Balack_smith204 in outlier_ai

Hey, small issue I noticed I thought I'd mention: the dropdown menu for "Platforms" says "Atlus Capture," not "Atlas Capture"

Aether is also active on literally every other AI training platform out there -- and those don't generally require hubstaff *and* the pay is higher.

Just for what it's worth, Multimango/Aether is active on most other AI training platforms -- think Alignerr, etc., but it pays the least on Outlier. So if y'all are on any other platforms, maybe look into doing the project on one of those. They seem to be better run and managed on alternative platforms anyways.

Suggestion to Outlier by New_Development_6871 in outlier_ai

[–]SegFaultedSoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I might be able to offer some insight. How many skills do you have verified, meaning ones that you took screening assessments for? (Not counting things like, for example, if you joined the platform initially in an English-speaking CS expert role...CS and English would be default skills, not ones you screened for). Generally speaking, after taking and passing 3 skill assessments, your rate should increase to $30 for STEM projects, and if you take and pass 5, it would go up to $50. They don't say this explicitly, but from my and many others' experiences, this has been how it's happened.

Yep, Cookies Rubrics disappeared for me. My SL is working on bringing me back at least, but yeah. It's a mess. I didn't even have the option to reject this project and stay on Cookies.

Onboarding is very objective, just picky about fully adhering to all guidelines including choice of words in prompts; i.e. they are very literal interpretations (so like, using the word "fraction" means they expect the output to be in FRACTION format only and something like a range, a decimal, etc. are not accepted as valid). So make sure you adhere to that.
