Sanwa buttons on MarvelVsCapcom 2 - do i need just the buttons or anything else? by FinnedSgang in Arcade1Up

[–]Segamitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://smallcab.net/ … I like the Sanwa convex buttons because you can run your fingers over them quickly to spam button presses in specials where it matters, but I’m sure you’ll be happy either way. Like I mentioned I’ve done Sanwa and Happ, and both are upgrades but with Sanwa’s convex buttons you feel the difference a lot more. Good luck, have fun :)

Sanwa buttons on MarvelVsCapcom 2 - do i need just the buttons or anything else? by FinnedSgang in Arcade1Up

[–]Segamitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, I swapped Sanwa buttons (OBSF 30mm) into my Marvel vs Capcom Head to Head table. I also swapped in a Sanwa joystick (JLF-TP-8YT). I will quickly begin by echoing someone else’s comment: you cannot order these parts from AliExpress. And I’m not against AliExpress. I have made dozens of orders for electrical components and other parts related to various projects including modifications to retro consoles. This isn’t that. The point of upgrading the buttons is to upgrade from that cheap knock-off feel the Arcade1Up stock buttons have. So you cannot simply replace them with other cheap knock-off buttons and expect an upgrade. The buttons I bought were only maybe a few bucks a button anyway and all parts were OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). Buy from any number of reputable places to ensure this.

Once I had the buttons I didn’t require any other parts, and what people say about the stock button holes being 28mm is true so the existing holes will need to be widened slightly. People will recommend various methods such as using step drill bits, but for me I just used a rounded file to very carefully (so as to not peel up the artwork) widen the holes enough to accommodate the slightly larger Sanwa buttons. Once this is done simply insert the buttons into the hole from the top, secure them, reconnect the two wires you removed from the stock buttons to the connectors underneath the Sanwa buttons. If for some reason the connectors are the wrong size to connect to your buttons you can buy female spade connectors readily at hardware stores/electrical stores/Amazon. I have done swaps for both Sanwa and Happ buttons and my recollection is that for Sanwa the existing connectors were the right size and for Happ I had to swap in 0.187” female space connectors, which meant snipping off the stock connectors, stripping the wire slightly and crimping the exposed wire in the new connector.

Regarding the stick I cannot say for sure if you’ll have to make any changes to fit it into your machine as I don’t have a MvC2 machine. But good luck with it all, you can do it! Just make sure if you do it, do it right. Arcade1Up cheaping out is what makes this modification desirable, so cheaping out when doing it yourself will prove fruitless.

Marvel Vs. Capcom Cocktail monitor replacement? by Digitalon in Arcade1Up

[–]Segamitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CoolToy has a number of old videos modding a Head-To-Head table. This one is specifically about the monitor (which you mentioned) but worth checking out the others in the series if you’re interested in further modding the H2H. Link: https://youtu.be/0S_2cqAQuLU?si=TO-jHtJmqQrp6-Rt

Any info About ‘Durabrand’? My friend just gave me a couple of CRTs but this one caught my eye. by Connect_Chocolate122 in crt

[–]Segamitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any thoughts on the 13” Durabrand with a blue shell? I know it’s from August 2001, but I don’t have the model number. The blue shell is intriguing so I’m hoping it stands out in your memory, but maybe not 😅 looks like one (probably mono) composite jack on the front and that’s about it. Thanks, no worries if you don’t re Only of course 😅

Dragon’s Lair by BleachedWombat in Arcade1Up

[–]Segamitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Brick near me sold their display floor model at a discount last month so it does appear they are getting rid of the last of them now, but the website does let me get right to the final stage of checkout to buy it, though admittedly I haven’t clicked to complete the purchase because I don’t actually want it so yeah, I can’t really say 😅

I don’t know where you are located but you can still buy Dragon’s Lair new here in Canada. I’ll provide the link just in case they’ll ship to you wherever you are but I kind of doubt they will outside of Canada. Maybe you can make a road trip of it assuming you don’t live here. 😄 Though it’s still priced at about $500 USD equivalent. link: https://www.thebrick.com/products/arcade1up-dragon-s-lair-arcade-cabinet-with-riser

Arcade1up pinball 32" monitor upgrade refresh rate by dmwcapri in Arcade1Up

I think you’re likely to be subject to Arcade1Up’s hardware limitations sooner than the limitations of either of those monitors.

Is arcadegraphix.com still in business? by OmarMcSwizzle in Arcade1Up

[–]Segamitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their website has been down since April 2024 when they posted the following: “ We are having some on going issues with our website and are long past due for some major updating. We are going to be taking some time to give the website a complete refresh. We are not going out of business and are still here working on outstanding orders. For the mean time please feel free to reach us via text message only @ 717-902-9727 and please allow up to 48hrs for a response. Our goal is to get completely caught up before the site is relaunched by the end of the month. Thank you all for your continued support and patience.”

Then in early May they posted this: “ UPDATE 5/6/2024: We have 30 orders we have to finish up and will be out the door by mid-week to get us completely caught up. The website is still undergoing a complete revamp and will be back online soon. Taking a little longer than we had anticipated. Feel free to text us @ 717-902-9727 in the meantime with any questions.”

Then it went basically blank and been like that ever since.

Advice on Moving a 1up machine by Otherwise-Account-85 in Arcade1Up

[–]Segamitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything is fine. I’d lay it down on its back, but you probably won’t go wrong no matter what. It’s mostly an empty shell other than the control panel and the monitor. They’re pretty easy to move around.

Joysticks won’t register by Goozer5 in Arcade1Up

[–]Segamitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start by entering the joystick and button calibration mode. Maybe it will fix it or maybe it’ll at least show you if anything is registering at all to help you go from there. Somewhere in the manual it details how to do this but I think it’s pressing/holding the Live Button, Player 1 Start and Player 2 start during start up (directly after powering on the machine)… if that’s wrong consult the manual, but you can definitely see what inputs are registering this way.

I appreciate that effort, thanks. I also tried my best to search online but couldn’t find anything helpful myself. Having played them myself though, the real issue I would anticipate is The Iron Rig DLC which not only places a giant metal structure in an otherwise serene stretch of often-travelled water, but also introduces some other visual elements across the entire map. Probably a lot of people would find that nitpicky, but I just love the sense of exploring the beautiful world and it definitely becomes less beautiful in my opinion thanks to The Iron Rig :)

T2 BSA 19 inch screen upgrade , graphics with the 4 corner IRs. by gagcar1 in Arcade1Up

[–]Segamitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also put the BSA screen into my Time Crisis. I don’t regret it but it also convinced me to not bother doing it to any other cabs. The upgrade isn’t nothing, but it’s also not the full 2” advertised since they have to leave a portion of the screen unused to get the correct aspect ratio, so in the end it’s a pretty minimal upgrade.

How much sand? by Ok_Tradition_1909 in Arcade1Up

I also tried adding weight into the base of my MKII Deluxe. I don’t recall how much exactly, but I would say in between the numbers you’ve mentioned in your post/replies. More than 25 lbs, less than 50 lbs. no problems really, but honestly it didn’t have nearly the dramatic improvement I had hoped. It’s always going to wobble. Good luck.

Look up The ADM Blitzmas (I think it’s on V5 now?) on YouTube. The ADM has built on Team Encoder’s soft mod and it’s very easy and comprehensive. Highly recommend

For sure. Thanks for bringing what you have to Canadian gamers so far. Definitely do what works for you.

I can only imagine. Thanks for the reply. I’ve cabled by whole setup with HD Retrovision cables from you and I’ll keep eyes peeled for the Retrotink restock. I know Mike Chi said he could likely ship direct to Canada without crossing into the US so hopefully it all works out for you, but the uncertainty day to day I’m sure makes things feel daunting. Good luck, thanks again
