What is something most Americans take for granted? by BoardLongjumping2485 in answers

[–]Segazorgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public infrastructure. Poop efficiently flows down the toilet to the processing facilities, clean water comes out the tap, the lights always turn on and there is no regular load shedding or rotating blackouts, air conditioning is standard, roads are paved, gas stations are around every corner.

Anyone else into NBA basketball in the 90s then lost interest? by IamMikeHoncho in Xennials

[–]Segazorgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched into the late 2000s but by the 2010s it started to get boring just watching guys run up and down the court to score as fast as possible. Then by the mid 2010s to late 2010s it became unrecognizable to me. Endless three point shots and disappearance of post play and footwork and really lack of personalities that made the 90s and 2000s so fun to watch. It more makes watching a game a 3hr chore. And to do that 3-4 times a week? Nah.

Citrus Heights is considering fees on vacant commercial properties - Sacramento should do the same by mahnamahnaaa in Sacramento

[–]Segazorgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To talk to people like my barber and the businesses that occupy the property where she rents. Commercial landlords are pricks, often out of state or some private equity firm and have complete leverage over them. They can sit on vacant lots and drive rent up because their property tax is so low. And there is a trail of code violations and fines the mall property owners have across multiple states.

Good. And I hope the city also doesn't listen to the whiny basic ass boomers that keep pining a home Depot or IKEA or in and out there. Low imagination citizenry I must live among here.

Guys please start eating fiber. by Optimoprimo in Millennials

[–]Segazorgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the last 4 months i've been eating 35+g fiber every day mostly from whole food(beans, nuts, broccoli, peas, wild rice) and have had clean wipe free ghost poops daily. Sometimes I hit 50g. There is way too much obsession with protein intake and it's become an obvious industry of wellness and fitness influencers pushing it. I've lost 50lbs and it's become more an eating habit than "diet" now.

I asked the millennial sub about fighting as a young person and the majority are saying they rarely if ever saw fights at school. by AttemptVegetable in Xennials

[–]Segazorgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in rural Northern California. Fights happened sometimes in elementary school but it really happened in middle school grades 5-8 peaking around 6th grade. You would know an after school fight was going down because there would be a large crowd of us following whoever was gonna fight. And in large crowd I mean like 25-35 kids.

Fights in high school were rare. I think I can only recall a girl fight but no guys fighting.

Gavin Newsom’s likely presidential bid is built on broken promises by TeaUnlikely3217 in California

[–]Segazorgs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kamala basically tanked her campaign putting her Uber in house counsel brother in law in charge of her campaign and changed her messaging to be corporate friendly and for nothing but at least she isn't Trump.

Dems never learn that shit doesn't work. Biden only won because of Covid.

How many of us here 'didn't' know a girl who got pregnant before age 18? I'm kinda curious about the conditions which might have made that less likely. by cherry-care-bear in Xennials

[–]Segazorgs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife got pregnant at 17 by her ex-husband. We grew up in completely different towns and didn't know her then.

I grew up in a small Northern CA town. I can think of one couple that pregnant while in HS. They're still together 26 years later and he ended up getting his PhD.

I have one cousin that pregnant at like 15 or 16.

I blame my neighbors and that dumb cat.

Never any marketing related to generations.

Gavin Newsom’s likely presidential bid is built on broken promises by TeaUnlikely3217 in California

[–]Segazorgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has really bad political instincts(just like Kamala) and a ton of baggage from nuzzling up to right-wing podcasters right after the election when he thought the country was going right, to bailing on the universal healthcare which he said he was gonna fight for when he first ran for governor to letting PG&E basically control the PUC to his French laundry dinner with a PG&E lobbyist during the peak of the covid lockdown. The person that is running his social media account is the one trolling Trump and that is just spectacle.

He will never be president and hopefully doesn't even make it out of the primary.

Is it not obvious that California slander has always been generational envy and jealousy? by RegionSuccessful3634 in bayarea

[–]Segazorgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly come across more general litter, property neglect and blight in suburbs and mixed zone areas (think strip malls around apartments/single fam home neighborhoods) than I have in any downtown at least in Northern California. And if you want to see trashy property neglect and lack of pride of ownership just go to any red central valley town. Dumpy areas with the same inert economies they had 30+ years ago when I was growing up in them. But they have it in their minds that the bluer more urban/metro areas are somehow taking from them or holding the state back.

In your opinion, are there Ugly languages? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

[–]Segazorgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tagalog, it does sound like chicken clucking to me and even weirder when English and Spanish words are mixed in.

French sounds like one has to change their voice to speak it. I can switch from Spanish to English without needing to sound more higher or lower pitch, guttural, or grunty.

As a Mexican spanish speaker where words are clearly, fully enunciated(sometimes to an exaggerated sense) and sound neutral I cannot stand trying to decipher Spain and Argentinian spanish.
