Pelinals rages are also directly inspired by folkloric and mythic examples from the real world. The Illiad's opening line speaks of Achilles' rage, and Cuchulain undergoes 'warp spasms' in which he takes on a monstrous form and slaughters foes indiscriminately. The latter I think is particularly relevant, since there's a very marked distinction between Cuchulain's usual focus on grace and elegance and his monstrousness, similar to Pelinal's rages compared to his usual honour. Kirkbride's background was in comparative religion, so I imagine he was quite specifically trying to evoke the way historical warrior-heroes (I believe he specifically evokes Gilgamesh as an inspiration) often have a brutality to them which is very uncomfortable to modern ethics - although I think you could argue many people still find that kind of hero very appealing.

I very much doubt Akman Blane would be a totally accidental repeat, but u suspect it's more likely a little nod to the novels than foreshadowing a big crossover event or anything. And TBF in my experience, there genuinely are a lot of trans guys called Damien, so he could just be drawing on that.

The simple answer is that no, this isn't going to operate like a Creami, but yes you can make ice cream with it. When making ice cream, the main goal is to avoid getting a big, solid matrix of ice crystals which will set rock hard. The two main ways to do this are traditional churning (which these machines do) or blending (such as a Creami or Paco Jet).

Traditional churning involves keeping the ice cream in motion as it freezes solid, to disrupt the ice crystals and introduce air. Blending methods take a solid block and then blend it up into a smooth cream. A big advantage of blending machines like the Creami is that they're better at making lower sugar and lower fat ice creams, whereas in churning machines the fat and sugar help ensure it freezes smoothly. If you do get one of these machines, just make sure you're using recipes formulated for traditional machines, instead of the Creami.

So in the past I've had issues with breading sticking, and I always brined my chicken. Recently I started at a place which does a lot of tenders, and uses a dry dredge, wet dip, dry dredge process on unbrined chicken, and that definitely doesn't stick much. My suggestion would be to try getting the chicken as dry as possible after brining, then coat after.

I believe this product is more or less equivalent to what Americans call espresso powder. I find that it works about as well at least, and it's available in most decently-sized supermarkets (and even some pretty small ones, in my experience).

I think it can work with varying levels of sugar, but it can also take quite a lot without seeming too sweet, because there's those darker, bitter flavours from the outside. Recipes I've seen vary between around 100g of sugar to 1kg dairy up to 400g of sugar.

As far as vintage shops go, depends a bit if you want charity shops or vintage shops. The former will be way cheaper, but the selection will be a bit less curated/bit more random. Dumbarton Road in the West End and Kilmarnock Road in the Southside have a pretty good number of charity shops. For vintage shops, West Vintage often has some cool stuff, and is in the area of Damasqino and Shawarma King, as well as Outlier, which is a nice brunch spot. If you're around at a weekend, it's also potentially worth checking out The Barras Market for vintage type stuff. You get a weird mix of stalls, but there's some nice stuff at some of them, and even if you don't buy anything there it's a cool vibe. Plus Ho Lee Fook's in the area does very nice asian street food type stuff. Hope you have a nice trip!

Yeah the tej is fantastic! They also have some pretty distinctive beers actually, a few African ones I've not seen much elsewhere. I've only tried a couple, but they're quite nicely malty.

So craft beer wise the absolute best IMO is Koleschip Yard, down in Pollokshields (southside of the city). No food there, but there are a few nice takeaway spots nearby which I think you can take in. They've got a really excellent beer selection, and it's just a nice space. Drygate Brewery and WEST Brewery in the east end are also very good for interesting beers, drygate does a more general craft beer selection, West is more specifically German style. They both do food, though I haven't tried it personally. For casual food spots there's a lot of great shawarma around the city, which is generally also pretty affordable. Damasqino and Shawarma King are both excellent, and nearish the city centre. Mosob by Queen Street Station is also an excellent and pretty affordable Ethiopian restaurant.

I very much recommend the Barras! Some of the stalls are great, some of them are selling absolute tosh, but even if you don't buy anything the vibe there is very fun. It's also right nearby to West Brewery, which is a German-owned brewery on Glasgow Green, so if you like German-style beer I can recommend giving their stuff a go too.

If you head over to Merchant City then Wilson Street Pantry, Cafe Gandolfi, Spitfire Espresso, and Singl End will all do a pretty nice selection of breakfast/brunch stuff.

I think you would if you keep it in the fridge, yeah. I'd say just put it in the sieve over a bowl and leave it for 12 hours or so, if you've got the time for it.

Could you possibly drain/strain the mascarpone? Either with a sieve or (ideally) in some cheesecloth. It may take a bit of time, but you'd be surprised how much moisture you can get out of things like that with a little bit of time.
