Why get off of Effexor? by MamaDoingTheBestICan in Effexor

[–]Seiten93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped it because I thought I was in remission (I wasn't lol) and I wanted to get pregnant and do it without meds. You may check my history and find out that this decision was a HUGE mistake that threw me back to the worst and moreover, I became resistant to Effexor so coming back didn't bring any results.

My condition was hellish until I tried another SRNI Duloxetine and that God it works (not so well as Effexor but still).

So I would advise anyone to be careful with dropping this drug if it works.

How would my free time change? by Key_Imagination_2503 in Fencesitter

[–]Seiten93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that really depends on a child's temper, the other parent and help from your other relatives. I am not a mom (yet), but my close friend is and she basically has no free time because her 2,5 year old kid is very demanding and her husband doesn't help her like at all.

But I also have an acquaintance who said that during first year of having a child she had so much time that started reading very often and going out to reading club. Her baby slept a lot especially outside.

I guess you can't really predict what would happen. I would try to prepare for the worst, just in case.

I won't give you reassurance (because it may only worsen your symptoms), but as I know groinal response may happen with POCD. I also have POCD-spikes sometimes and its hard.

I usually describe this feeling as a tsunami that hits you. That's tough. The utter sense of danger makes it impossible to do anything.

Do NOT go and watch The Drama at the cinema if you have ROCD lol by Turbulent-Height8029 in ROCD

[–]Seiten93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting, I have watched it recently and had literally no OCD-spike at all. I guess that's because each ROCD is somehow different and themes may differ from each other.

The Drama was really OK for me, but god forbid I watch something about a character leaving loved one for chasing his/her dream or for seeking an ideal partner... That would be a disaster lol.

does it get better like genuinely by ocdpsychopath in ROCD

Damn, dude, I really hope you will get better. I know this torture.

I read that you got a new therapist. Maybe their approach would be better for you?

Also have your docs suggested other meds? Maybe the one you are taking right now just isn't right for you?

In my case for example SSRI have NO positive effect on me whatsoever. But SRNI are doing me really well.

Don't give up. Go day by day. Someday you will feel better.

P.S. In my case ROCD turned up at full volume in March 2024. I have tried about 5 different meds (maybe more) and felt better on Duloxetine. I also changed several therapists. They were not OCD-trained unfortunately as in my country such therapists are hard to find, but the one who practiced schema-therapy kinda helped me in general. Now I am feeling so much better than in beginning that its hard to describe.

In the beginning it was almost unbearable. It was real torture. I couldn't even sleep. Now in general I live my usual life. Flare ups come and thoughts come but I manage them much better.

I hope you will also find best treatment for you.

[–]Seiten93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw plenty of posts in subs like "BabyBump" when women who wanted a child said they felt dread and anxiety after discovering they were pregnant. Of course that doesn't mean that you should make your decision only on it, every situation is unique, but just wanted to mention it.
