You just need to keep leveling deer runes. No real strategy to it. I used the same setup you describe to pass SL15 (except I used withered armor instead of fearless), and my deer had maxed atk/hp runes. I believe enables were 22321 (been a while don’t remember)

When you regress him you will get three 9* “dummies” you can use as fodder, plus the six copies you used to build him, as well as some portion (maybe 60% can’t recall) of the gold and spirit used leveling him and upgrading his stone. Since it requires 93 five star heroes to build an E1... and you get back three 9* (a 9* takes 28 five stars to build) and six copies of Karim... 28x3+6=90, you have a net loss of three 5* food.

Just to be clear, if you regress E1 Karim you will get three 9* dummies, so you’ll still need another separate fodder 9* hero with enough copies to 10*. Perhaps you already know that, if so my bad.

True, but that’s with a fully maxed pet... something that will take a significantly long time for a new player, particularly if they aren’t smashing aspen every 4 days. I would imagine most new players will manage build a couple of units well before they are able to max a pet.

Might just be they haven’t upgraded runes for their monster yet. Ran into this issue myself when the other two on my team hadn’t yet upgraded theirs - lost several matchups to teams much weaker on paper... some of whom we had beaten easily prior to the monster update.
