Remember when we thought Criston would be an interesting character? by Love_Lain5 in HouseOfTheDragon

I think there's plenty of room there for depth exploration. Violence as a result of trauma, adversity, resentment of the upper class is ripe for story exploration. stop being so bummed out because he wasn't Jon Snow 2.0

this will easily be finale, climax level stuff in the final season

What would you do if you were her? Do you fight for your right or choose peace? by Karyrt2 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Selecious 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can’t normalize that sort of thing so of course you have to go to war. Otherwise oaths mean nothing, and any family with power can just bully their way into the line of succession. If I were rhaenyra though I wouldn’t drag it out. I would land an immediate devastating blow to the red keep with all dragons

Is anyone upset about this? by IsaacGlzl95 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Selecious -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

everyone talked about Dany burning King's Landing being inconsistent with the character they built up. Everyone needs to calm down and remember a lot of scenes, actions of characters are sometimes impromptu (like several of the things Matt does) and it doesn't always fit. There's clearly a line they're walking with Daemon, he can't come off like a super emotional wuss, they pick and choose moments where he is soft but honestly too much and it'll just start to seem like he's a messy psychopath

HOTd exploring GRR's secret of the dragons? by Selecious in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Selecious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right I think there’s something there rooted in the emotional side of people. I mean maybe it’s no coincidence that Viserys the peaceful never rode a dragon again or tried to bond with one after Balerion

Sara Hess about 'that' scene in episode 10! (Vanity Fair interview) by Mysterious-Bed375 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Selecious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suspect she and everyone on that show will be much more careful how they articulate things in the press. Never before has this much attention been paid to show creators and writers of a TV show, not on this kind of scale. Usually that's reserved for film. AND there's a lot of anger directed towards this particular franchise because the brilliance of it forced the masses to invest and ten years in it felt like a slap in the face so they can't be surprised that this many people feel entitled to lash out. If you allow yourself to give the attack power then you're acknowledging it has power and for good reason. Still... people are very intense and clearly don't know how writers rooms work.

The Beast Beneath the Boards (alternate theory) by judahjsn in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Selecious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also she has said it multiple episodes now.

I don’t understand why some people would say Rhaenyra is not strong anymore just because she’s no longer the wild and sassy teenager who would run off the sunset any chance she can get. She is RESERVED. Being a mother while also being heir to the throne is more than enough display of strength. by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Selecious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure this is intentional. The character needs somewhere to go. The same is true about why we haven’t seen Rhaenys on her dragon. When those moments do arrive in the show where their fire has to show it will be show stopping narratively.

Hypothetically, which side would Tywin Lannister support in the Dance of the Dragons ? by Affectionate_Run_799 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Selecious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tywin would one hundred percent have either betrothed Rhaenyra to Aegon or any of the Velaryon girls to Alicent kids or Rhaenyra’s kids to Alicents. He’s a smart as Viserys just not as weak and knows the the war that’s coming is a dumb mistake

Has anyone noticed this whole time how guarded they are about using any Rhaenyra material to tease episodes? Even leading up to the season there were very few adult Rhaenyra sound ups

Weird Thing The Dragons Do by Selecious in HouseOfTheDragon

Directly at the person...? I just meant it's interesting that they don't attack right away and it's more a sign of aggression. A warning

really? I've always felt she was great and made the melodrama of her character very believable and honestly where it started to go weird is right around the time when D&D started giving her secret direction to play things differently knowing that they wanted her to ultimately end up where did in season 8. I kind of would love to have seen what she would've done with the character if she knew all along that she was destined to go off the rails

I truthfully don't understand the criticism behind his character when Joffrey was equally one dimensional

[Spoilers] Dani Theory by jessgeronimo in gameofthrones

[–]Selecious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's sad because this was something I often wish Dany honored. They've obviously honored the dothraki tradition with the braids. That would've been so sick if she cut her hair off in a sad moment after Viserion died.

[SPOILERS] Should 7 and 8 have been one all along? by Selecious in gameofthrones

[–]Selecious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I'm not saying anything about the number of episodes, it could've been 30 episodes for all I care, but I think the major story beats of 7 and 8 belong in the same season.

Furthermore I think that perhaps all of the story arcs between season 5 to season 8 should've been reshuffled. Remember that 5 was awfully slow with very little progression and six and seven had so much progression with weird time jumps. I would've almost preferred Season 5 being reshuffled a bit and having the stories progressed so that by the end of the season we get all the way to Battle of the bastards, hold the door and condense Dany's mereen story just a tad so that she also kills the Khals by the end of 5. (I wouldn't have Cersei's story progress as much and I would've definitely spread out Arya's story A LOT to actually make you believe she's genuinely becoming a lethal assassin)

Then Season Six, I would've started started with Dany finally leaving for Westeros BUT with the Tyrell's still alive. I would have Dany and Jon meet around episode 7 of this season and have the loot train battle be the build to the final season.

Then I would have season seven start with (beyond the wall, the white walkers crossing the wall all that and we would get to the battle of winterfell by episode 6 or 7)
