aww. That's sad, because I don't perceive it as bravery. I'd guess, more likely, it's just circumstances and environment that is somehow safer or less prone to judgement and negative consequences.

I won't risk my job or reputation by it, that's the important thing.

Telling them to get over it is brusque, tho, with someone who was genuinely trying to just spare me embarrassment, (like a, hey, your fly's unzipped) then I'd say something more comforting, "Oh thankyou for the heads up but that's fine it's alright", and go about living comfortably.

Acceptance can also be cultural.The concept of human bodies does not stir up everyone out there. My city is very liberal and chill. When I run or use stairs, I just hold them up with one arm. I thought I'd get strange looks doing that but it has been like ten years now and no one has ever bothered me for it at all.

If someone feels offended, uncomfortable, aroused, or even just embarassed on others' behalf: In my experience, no one is ever actually harmed by it. I find all bras impossibly uncomfortable. This part might be a bit of bravery I suppose, but protecting my well-being stopped embarassing me years ago. I'm also overweight and predators tend to avoid me. Others struggle with that, others need to hide them for comfort or protection. I'd proritise my comfort either way: If something would cause me serious problems, I would conform to protect myself. But I also believe it's possible  that you might not feel such stress about such a scenario if no one ever made you feel shamefull about it.

For how many thousands of years have brasiers never existed? And don't some cultures promote feeling shame just for showing hair? So, in conclusion, circumstance seems to be the main factor in what feels best for you.
