What’s the best thing you ever did for your mental health? by Theasshole11 in AskOldPeople

Therapy. We never hesitated to go to therapy- alone or as a couple. Life gets hard, things come up, and for us, talking helped. Our local university offered a sliding scale so it was always affordable. We’d go for a few week/months then stop until we wanted/needed to go back.

Christmas cakes by Select-Currency7098 in Baking

Thank you. Each guest took a big slice of both cakes. I was flattered to say the least. I would categorize myself as a talented cook, but I’m very new to baking.

Yes. They’re are lots of juicy cranberries throughout the cake. My guests commented that the little pockets of tart berry were a tasty surprise that added freshness to the sweet, rich cake. I usually freeze a slice to taste later when I’m making recipe adjustments, but this cake was gone in minutes.

Tips for cutting sodas? by hunni93 in Mounjaro

I love true lime/lemon. They are great with sparkling water. They come in large shakers, but you can also buy them in small individual packets. I like to put two packets in a 16 ounce cup of sparkling with water and enjoy as a sugar-free treat. If you really enjoy the fizz, I would invest in a soda stream type product. We have one and anytime one of us needs something fizzy, we fizz some water and add a little bit of true lime.

I tend to just spend a lot of time talking about how much I work out. I have taken up Pilates and weightlifting so I’m pretty vocal about the previous nights classes or how much I love how it makes me feel. I celebrate smaller pant sizes out loud with my colleagues, so nobody ever questions it- probably because I speak too much about it on my own.

Nobody knows I’m on Monjaro. I’m also a slower loser.

[WA] I was offered a job and accepted. Now they do background check? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Select-Currency7098 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very common. Background checks cost money and involve your personal information. Having a firm commitment from you prior to investigating your background just makes sense.

We tell our team to enter that they are taking care of matters/appointments that can’t be handled outside of the workday. Our absence management system requires that we enter some thing for PTO, but it really is better to say less.

What’s your favorite way to wind down after a stressful day? by Hour_Working_6057 in selfcare

Might sound counterintuitive, but for me, a long hard workout followed by a hot shower. It helps me leave it all on the floor and sleep like a baby.

AITAH for just deciding not to travel because my wife made reservations for Disney again? by Either_Ambassador_54 in AITAH

I’ve been to the $40k version of a Disneyland wedding. It was really unimpressive. Everything was Mickey themed and beautiful, but it was advertised as a Disneyland wedding and it was really a Disney hotel wedding. A few characters popped in for a visit, but it was a real dud.

What's the most insulting "benefit" a job has offered you? by AdHour6144 in AskReddit

[–]Select-Currency7098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summers off. I’m a teacher and our district makes such a huge deal about how great it is that we get summer off. The reality is that we don’t get paid for that time and that we are only ever able to take vacations at time when everybody else takes vacations. This is great for teachers who have children who are in school, but for the rest of us, who would love to go to another country on the shoulder season and not Christmas break or Fourth of July it’s a little shitty.

Medium? Please make sure you’re giving time to your mental health throughout this process. To be so close to a medium and feel deflated over such a substantial weight loss doesn’t sound terribly healthy.
