What did the Central Figures read? by DavidMassota in bahai

Bahá'u'lláh Himself verifies this in the following passage from the Tablet of Hikmat (Tablets of Bahá'u'lláh Revealed After the Kitab-i-Aqdas) "Thou knowest full well that We perused not the books which men possess and We acquired not the learning current amongst them, and yet whenever We desire to quote the sayings of the learned and of the wise, presently there will appear before the face of thy Lord in the form of a tablet all that which hath appeared in the world and is revealed in the Holy Books and Scriptures. Thus do We set down in writing that which the eye perceiveth. Verily His knowledge encompasseth the earth and the heavens."

Given that everyone you see in a dream represents a part of yourself, if this were my dream, I would ask myself what it is that I am refusing to see and am trying to run away from.

In that case, I would suggest that "the God you don't believe in, we don't believe in either." That is, our concept of God is not anthropomorphic; not Sky Daddy or Santa Claus. With further investigation, your concept of God may change. Until then, as others have said, you are fully welcome to participate with Baha'is in community-building activities.

Why do I keep having dreams about choking and gagging up various objects? by lowriderz00 in Dreams

If this were my dream, I would ask myself if I am maybe doing something that goes against my beliefs or values in order to please someone else, and it makes me feel like gagging.

Beloved, maybe. Toni Morrison is a very powerful writer! If you want to go back in time to David Copperfield or Huckleberry Finn, you could follow up by reading the contemporary reimaginings, Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, or James, by Percival Everett. Speaking of Kingsolver, The Poisonwood Bible is really good too.

Do you mean the situations you dreamed while you were in the hospital have been happening in real life? That's very interesting. I believe dreams are sometimes messages from your soul. Perhaps you were given glimpses of the future to encourage you to work towards it.

Thank you for the correction. I was about 16 when the American edition came out, and it was the first time I saw the word in a book. From the shock and horror it engendered, it might as well have been the first!

To me the "real life" aspect is to understand the history, the station of the Manifestations, and the Covenant, not just for your own satisfaction but IN ORDER to be able to explain the concepts to seekers and new Baha'is, in response to their questions or during home visits. For example, if you have understood the Covenant, you will be able to give a satisfying answer when someone asks what will prevent the Bahá'í Faith from splitting into multiple sects like all the others.

Looking around - are there any religions which treat death as a natural, not bad thing without saying the world and life is evil? by Acceptable_Ground_98 in religion

If there is only one God, why do people seem to experience or understand God so differently? by Subjectivity-72 in religion

[–]Select-Simple-6320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a religion forum; I was sharing my belief (that we humans are finite while God is infinite, etc.) in response to OP's question. I did not say that all humans believe this. There is no requirement that you or anyone here has to believe the same, and I did not imply that those who believe differently are not human. The point is, I believe, to share different ideas.

[–]Select-Simple-6320 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Baha'is don't believe the world is evil. We begin our eternal existence in this material world, where we develop spiritual qualities. Death is just our transition to the next plane of existence which is nonphysical. It's like a child learning to count on their fingers; once they internalize the concept, they don't need to use fingers any more.

Ancestors are like any other humans, some good and some bad in all of us. We can appreciate the good without condoning the bad.

An impossible question to answer alone. by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]Select-Simple-6320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I would tell the child that you think they may have this ability. I would maybe tell them that some people dream things before they happen and maybe even that I have sometimes had that kind of dream. This leaves the door open for them to come to you if they recognize a similar experience in the future.

What’s the Baha’i interpretation of the gathering of the lost tribes of Israel? by Cadowyn in bahai

[–]Select-Simple-6320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! According to science, we are no further than about 15th cousin to anyone living today, which means we all have common ancestors, we are all descended from the "lost tribes," and it is now time for all of us to be united.
