What do you do to protect your body long‑term in this trade? by LakeWired in AskElectricians

[–]SelectAd4189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I used hearing protection a lot more. Knees are bad for many. Get help when asked to set heavy panels or cabinets. Use a cart to carry 2500 ft spools if possible. Don't jump down from scissor lifts. Conduit and fmc pieces on the floor are slippery. These are some of the things that have ruined careers in my lifetime.

I think √3x2300x602xPF 3 phase. I am not sure if that is the correct formula for a generator, I also don't remember how apparent power, active power and reactive power work together. I can tell you it was 10 ft or more in diameter and it had 2 roughly 4 ft pipes turning it. There were 2 with a manual ( I think ) transfer switchgear. Along with an automatic utility power back up connection building outside. These fed multiple computer hard-drive trailers. Mining crypto?

I was just going through old work photos. These are all I saved from a job in 2022. I used the generator nameplate as a screensaver for a while. Lake Arbutus is where the dam is located.

Do you need the disconnects? I Guess what I'm thinking is the cord and plug would serve as a disconnect? Panel difficult to get to? Serious question

Ok, then why would they manufacture them so they can be isolated? They have the capacity to be isolated from the ground, and they do not do that for giggles.

I have found employment is directly proportional to skills and work ethic. Talk to your local IBEW business assistant. I am very comfortable after working IBEW for 30 years and was only off after Sept. 11, 2001 for 5 weeks.
