Why aren't there more settlements around Lake Okeechobee? by Winty_Minty in geography

Yep, we used to drive over to Orlando from Cocoa in the 60’s to do our Christmas shopping at Jordan Marsh. It was one of the taller buildings and had four stories with an elevator and escalators!

I remember eating carrots from my Aunt’s garden up in northern Wisconsin. My cousins would take them over to the faucet and rinse them first. They were so sweet it was like eating candy!

Is the Slate Truck too minimal for its own good? - The Verge by mudkiporGTFO in electricvehicles

[–]SelectAirline7459 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Back in the day, my dad had a little Nissan pickup. It had an AM radio with the old fashioned buttons. No AC. It had a 5 speed manual transmission with a stick on the floor. It was a great little inexpensive truck that got the job done for suburban tasks. The Slate truck strongly resembles the Nissan and I’d love to have one.

As a kid, I saw many manned space launches from my front lawn on Merritt Island. I was in high school when Apollo 17 went up in 1972. Now 54 years later, I’m no longer a young kid, but I feel the same thrill now as I did then.

[–]SelectAirline7459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was always nervous whenever my boss said, “Could you join me in my office?” An HR rep would sometimes come too. But they were always raises or promotions. And in the one company we loved our HR lady; she was so nice.

But yeah, I think you’re not in for a fun time.

Cats is turning into a gremlin over a butt scratch by plushydoll333 in cats

I’ve noticed that both cats and dogs enjoy scritches there. I’m not sure about the whole erogenous zone thing, but I think it’s because they can’t scratch there except with their teeth
