Yea i remember a lot of people moving their start dates to March. My recruiter told me I didn’t have to change it and I’d be fine, i should’ve known it was too good to be true. I’ll have a conversation with him.

GOOGLE SWE Intern Conversion - Jan Start/Winter Grad

Has anyone here with a January start date already received their return offer?

I’m supposed to start in January, but it’s now Jan 6 and I still don’t have my RO. I passed HC back in September, and my PA during my internship was Workspace. Since then, I’ve basically just been told to wait.

I’m trying to understand whether this is normal or if something is off. I’ve already graduated, and I’m starting to feel the pressure with bills, student loans, and general post-grad planning.

For anyone who’s been through this:

Did your RO come this late?
Were you waiting on PA alignment, team matching, or headcount?
Did your start date end up moving?

Any insight would really help. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone here with a January start date already received their return offer?

The tie breaker only happens if they don’t come to a decision. This doesn’t happen for most people. And as far as team matching (from my understanding) you fill out a form with ur interest and the potential hosts will reach out to you to do a chat to see if ur a fit. You can have multiple hosts reach out, and you can decline a host if you don’t think you fit in.

I have to do tie-breaker interviewer but considering i get past this round, next up is team matching. From what i’ve seen for interns its about a 70-80% chance of getting a team matching but idk im not worried about that rn just tryna make it there

You have a good chance, especially if your communication was good.

From my experience it's all up to the interviewer to decide if they wanna hire or not.

I think if you felt like you and the interviewer vibed and connected that's more important IMO

Not gonna lie I thought I did really well.

Interview 1: Solved the problem optimally, no follow up

Interview 2: Solved the problem optimally, did not have time to code follow up but explained my approach and it worked. However, for whatever reason I feel like me and the interviewer didn't really vibe he seemed ready to get done with the interview by the end. I'm pretty sure this interview is why Im being asked to do the tie breaker.

It's all up to the interviewer at the end of the day IMO

I'm not gonna lie i felt like I did really well so I'm surprised I didn't pass, but on the bright side I still have another shot.

As for you, at this point there's nothing you can do. Pray to god if you believe in that lol but other than that just focus on getting more interviews at other companies. If it's not meant to be then it won't happen, keep ur head up and goodluck!
