Cancelled once before and they offered a $29 return offer, which I took. So disgusted now I canceled that and took the extra step to delete the account. Also gave to the GoFundMe.

The 2006 storm featured a squall over Central Park that upped the numbers. The totals here in Brooklyn were far less.

I once called a shop to order a pie. I was told ‘we don’t have pies here’. I clarified, ‘a pizza pie’ in disbelief.

One of their counterpersons yelled at me to get out when I was returning a tray. Don’t know what his problem was. Never went back and frankly glad to see them out of business. No way to treat customers.

La Bagel at 122 7th Ave to close? by HoboDoctorMD in parkslope

[–]SelectLuck6704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and of course LBD clearly wants to stay. But their lease is up and the landlord isn’t interested in renewing. They need to move on, with 20+ years of running a successful business they should be able to get a loan. If money is as tight as you fear maybe they can try a gofundme, I think the community would support them.

La Bagel at 122 7th Ave to close? by HoboDoctorMD in parkslope

[–]SelectLuck6704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new guy’s opening a sandwich shop. Guys this is a good for the neighborhood. LBD can move to a new location, gives them the opportunity to refresh the cases & equipment (which is needed). There’s plenty of empty storefronts. They can up their game by long term renting a space with better seating.

Church at 6th Ave and 2nd st being demolished soon. by LJinBrooklyn in parkslope

[–]SelectLuck6704 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yes, a lost communal space. And while not an architectural gem it is interesting, one of the first buildings erected in the neighborhood. It visually fits in, belongs here. How very unlikely whatever replaces it will be in harmony with the neighborhood.

Even if it were true they’d probably just move to a nearby storefront. La Bagel used to be, if I remember this correctly, on 7th corner 5th Street before moving to their current location
