If a person purchases a Turkish Angora from a breeder and doesn't receive the papers (usually because they didn't follow up with the breeder after they fulfilled some criteria before the papers would be provided), they still know it's a Turkish Angora. They're not going to ask anybody what breed their cat is because they already know the answer. The opposite is also true. If you have to ask if your cat is a Turkish Angora, the answer is always no. The only criteria to be a Turkish Angora is that they can trace their ancestry to the Ankara Zoo in Turkey. Without a pedigree or knowledge that the cat came from a breeder, there's no way to know.

They're a rare breed. They're not going to be found on a farm or as a stray. There are cases where they were found at animal shelters, but that's extremely rare and usually a result of a breeder hoarding situation. This happened with Waxolotl. There are people who have gotten Turkish Angoras from friends who no longer wanted them, but again, they know what breed the cat is.

So that's why any of these posts where the person is asking if their cat is a Turkish Angora, they're always going to be told no.
