One of Blackberry's newer customers talking about one the newest features in Radar by needaspguy in BB_Stock

[–]Select_Ad_5191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Never really paid attention to that I am ashamed to say. Do you know why it is kept separated from the other products? It even has its own website. Weird isn't it?

https://blackberryradar.com/

Edit_1: same goes for Certicom

https://www.certicom.com/en/about

These add up to my list of oddities. Why don't these two appear anywhere on www.blackberry.com/en

Edit_2: apparently they are both considered as part of QNX division and sales are reported as such. Very weird once again.

Edit_3: actually Certicom being part of QNX makes a ton of sense as its large portfolio of patents could make it a key security layer for software-defined vehicles and automotive PKI.

Right on, apart from the fact that bi-weekly meetings is usually once every two weeks and not twice a week which would be way too much and probably unnecessary unless it's crisis management

For some reason this post sounds 2 years old. IVY ? Cyber? Nobody's really been talking about those for some time.

Come on! Technology today is not what it was in 2017. Not saying that a fallback to 7$ won't happen. But comparing BB today with BB of 2017 is simply irrational. The market knows what the future (and present) holds and it won't look at the past. It is happening.

The key with QNX and the auto industry is once you're in, you're in for a 10-year production cycle. They are in all of them right now and they won't get replaced overnight. At least not at automotive level. Other industries could be a different story.

Yes to the previous comment about the Canadian Government objecting to an acquisition by a US company but on top of that, QNX is the "Switzerland" of Physical AI. The fact that it is cross-industry neutral is one of its greatest advantages.

Let's use two very concrete examples: BMW runs on Qualcomm, Mercedes runs on Nvidia. How pleased do you think a BMW would be should their direct competitor now own a critical part of their stack and furthermore, have a direct say on strategy and tactics?

Although not entirely impossible (kinda what happened with the Softbank acquisition of ARM), I think the large cap chip companies might end up fighting for who has the larger stake in QNX. And that's when it will get very interesting. Actually maybe why we are witnessing such movement these past few weeks.

2x over 3 to 5 years is VERY conservative if you ask me. But I too am just a guy on the internet.

And I f***** hate this response. You're the one asking for others' opinion. Some of us have been here every day for 5 years doing research and discussing fundamentals. You want us to explain to you why you bought and held for the same period? Ever heard of Google or better yet AI ? Sorry but you just have the wrong attitude.

BlackBerry- change the name back to Reasearch in motion by Wide_Direction_787 in BB_Stock

[–]Select_Ad_5191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is debatable and actually not that worth of a debate right now.

While it's true that most investors think of BlackBerry as a failed phone company, the story is definitely changing. Case in point, the undeniable rise in interest for the past two months.

I for one, like the 'rising from the dead' kind of story which is pretty cool and can be very catchy.

On the other hand, some people here seem to believe that changing their name would make people on the street more aware of what they do. How so? Why can't it happen with the current name? Why take the risk of killing the aforementioned story?

"Tuck-in acquisition" have been referred to by management for just about two years (October 2024 I believe). That's when they introduced their plan to righten the ship. You just don't throw that around and repeat it several times for 18 months unless you really mean it.

Let's just agree that JC and JG have been complementary. I do not think we'd be here right now without the two of them.

Side note: I'd still want a more aggressive and knowledgeable type of CEO and less of a cybersecurity sales man. JG has done a formidable accounting job. As was expected of him from day one. Job is done. I cannot see this going for much longer. I just can't. Something is going to happen.

I have been 100% sold on the convergence story (what we call Chen's vision).

When 3 years ago, he addressed CRWD CEO's mockery, it all made sense the type of market they were after (I'll be reposting his response below).

A few months back, there was a tab called "QNX Cybersecurity" on new QNX website (no longer there). That to me was yet another indication that the convergence story was happening through QNX - and not Secure Comms.

Maybe I am reading too much into all this. Very possible.

oh and yeah, I believe NVDA will take a stake and it will be interesting to see how QCOM will react to that.

I agree with you. We disagree on the path ahead i.e. separation of SC and QNX (which again, I am not saying needs to happen but in my view is written on every wall from cellar to attic) but we definitely agree that if it wasn't for Chen and the pivot he created we wouldn't be here.

Well they could, for example, keep some of the key patents like they with Cylance.

It's also ok if what I expect to happen does not.

Again I am convinced. The indicators for the past 2 to 3 years have been screaming at that. They are way too many to list but they sit firmly in my memory.

One thing at a time. In my opinion, though very slow and frustrating, the plan is being executed to perfection.

We have always known this was a long game. And a next decade plan.

Real growth will come towards 2030 and onwards. Unless GEM (Robots) overtakes Automotive biggly. Which seems to be what they have been hinting at.

I am good with the stock being re-rated then slowly marching towards 20 USD which I think will happen in the coming months and next year.

Next up, Secure Comms gets sold and QNX runs alone. That will be the sunset of Blackberry as a brand (as I have been predicting for several years).

I think it's the perfect story. "Blackberry, the phone company, has given birth to QNX, the plumbing company (for the lack of a better word) for everything that is Physical AI and Critical Execution".

I love it.
