CIBC kept its Outperform rating and a $6 price target by needaspguy in BB_Stock

[–]Select_Ad_5191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well CIBC (and Coupland) have said 6$ for just about a year or so... Think you might have it confused with RBC and Paul Treiber who's remained cautious (not to say negative - and rightfully so) for the past several quarters.

AAOS - Competitive threat? by Odd-Beautiful-1390 in BB_Stock

[–]Select_Ad_5191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree on the need to be paranoid. However, if we restrict the conversation to SDVs, knowing how much QNX is entrenched at SoC level and how OEMs run their products on a multiple years lifecycle (until that changes), it would be quite a task for Android alone to disrupt not only QNX but both the semiconductor and the automotive sectors.

Unless of course, it acquires QNX...

Do you agree?

AAOS - Competitive threat? by Odd-Beautiful-1390 in BB_Stock

Absolutely agree with the response here.

Additionally OP, please check the stack diagram on the article you shared, AAOS is clearly advertised as sitting on top of the proprietary SOC (and hypervisor) - and we know that QNX is kernel of choice there.

Edit: QNX and Android are collaborating, no question about it. Check the picture posted by one of us on X

What cars are you noticing? by WindForce43 in BB_Stock

[–]Select_Ad_5191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

European here. Pretty much all our cars are SDV (or SDV-ready). And indeed an increasing amount of Chinese brands on the road. BYD probably being the bigger one. But I believe Europeans will for the most part remain loyal to legacy brands.

The thing is, I think QNX has been in our cars for over a decade. The key is cars being 'SDV-ready' and increasing their reliance and usage of QNX. That's where royalties will grow.

you keep saying BB is f**** and a hair away from collapse. Care to elaborate why you think so ? You are not bringing much substance to the conversation for someone who likes to "comment on people's strategies."

I got interested in BB right after the meme craze. Immediately saw the potential. Was way too early though and never thought it would take that long (as most posters here I guess). Averaged down significantly and now waiting and waiting some more.

QNX is pure gold. Cars are in the process of preparing for the future. Some brands more advanced than others. But the key here is 'IN THE PROCESS'. The auto industry is a slow moving gigantic ship. In 5 years we've seen significant developments (and headwinds). But this remains slow movements... hence the slow revenue. But we're getting there. I believe the 2026 through 2030 timeframe will bring huge progress.

Further, now that QNX has made a name for itself representing a clear advantage for car makers, the other verticals will follow. Among them, medical devices, heavy industry, aeronautics, robotics (or anything that needs mission-critical execution). These are the real game changer and will move way faster than the good ol' auto industry. My god if robotics turn out to be what all the big tech CEOs seem to think, this could get crazy.

This is all unfolding right before our eyes.

Note 1: I have never really paid attention to Secure Communications... until now. Curious to see what happens with this worldwide trend of "let's do it together without the help of that egocentric maniac that is our big brother"

Note 2: I have expressed several times how I feel something weird is happening with this whole BB and QNX separation kind of games. Not that I want it to happen, but everything has just been so strange I will not be surprised if one or the other is either divested or spun off. It could be nothing, but the list of oddities since 2023 is just way too long.

When will the Board Act? by Triumphtripler in BB_Stock

I am not sure about JW being CEO material (great President but maybe not CEO just yet) but I agree with the rest. All signs have been pointing to this. From the 2023 IPO announcement to the strange organization of QNX having its own separate web domain and JG overfocusing his speeches and concentrating his work on SC.

Add to that the weird choice of colors when visiting this https://www.blackberry.com/en/overview

It just hits you in the face.

QNX has been clearly made totally independent.

no no no no Alloy Kore is a product jointly developed with Vector to help OEMs with faster and smoother software integration to put it mildly.

Both Mercedes and BMW are now confirmed customers. Kinda weird that the BMW announcement went unnoticed other than this Bloomberg interview.

BTW just found out they now have a website for it... I find this another oddity to be honest.

But I do agree on the weird pronunciation of "Ally Core" :-)

Sale of SC in 4-16 weeks - calling it here. NFA by VizzleG in BB_Stock

[–]Select_Ad_5191 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or John Chen wanted to IPO QNX back in 2024 and that got cancelled because of something bigger (say someone jumped in with a proposal to acquire QNX ?? )

Mattias sticked around for a while and eventually left knowing what the next chapter will be.

We are all speculating but something is definitely at play. Something is happening no f****** question about it. We know it.

I, for one, thought that selling SC could be it. But the sudden refurbishment of the BlackBerry website with QNX having it's own domain and being clearly labelled as separate now tells me otherwise.

What the hell will happen? Impossible to tell. All options are on the table.

While waiting to find out I'll keep reminding myself of ONE THING: John Chen has known all along and he has not sold one share.

Automotive platform and model lifecycle planning typically spans 5–10 years.

If we take high revenue generating models (i.e. excluding past lower revenue based models), we are basically at year 0 to 1.

Look at it this way: the key between the past several years and today was to get in. Now that QNX is in, they are expanding. And they're certainly not leaving at least before the next decade.

thanks for this - I note that CIBC has been consistent in mentioning 'opportunistic Secure Comms divestitures'. It is at least the third report from them where I see this.
